"Have you noticed a pattern after passing six temples?"
"What pattern, that they're all broken?"
"I've found it," Alavin said with a mysterious smile. All the temples, though dilapidated, had one side facing toward the sea cave's entrance that remained intact, each with faint murals. Piece by piece, they imprinted in Alavin's mind, slowly forming the outline of the entire space. If he wasn't mistaken, these outlines could create a map, a map that might hold clues to the Wings of Eternity.
"Alavin, move aside," Gwenda ran over, rudely shoving him.
Alavin, unflinching, chuckled, "This isn't Cobalt Strike. Your petulance is misplaced here."
"I told you to move. You're standing on my treasure," Gwenda, not one to back down, shoved him again. She just couldn't stand the sight of Alavin.
Looking down, Alavin saw a stone under his foot pressing down on a jade bowl, which seemed to contain some lustrous droplets.
As Gwenda reached for it, Alavin's foot pressed down, and with a crunch, the bowl shattered.
"You bastard! That was mine!" Gwenda yelled.
"My mistake. You're not merely petulant. You're a shrew." Alavin glanced at her, moving on.
"Stop, you'll pay for my treasure!"
"Hehe, little lass, he might not strike women, but don't you push your luck," Eyla said with a mirthful smile.
"Was I speaking to you?" Gwenda retorted fearlessly. They were numerous and strong, with Roald and the others backing them up; who would dare bully her?
"Just because Alavin doesn't hit women doesn't mean I won't," Eyla warned, and then vanished, leaving behind only a fading smile. She reappeared behind Gwenda.
Gwenda's face paled, and as she turned, Eyla seized her throat. A sinister force seeped into her body, usurping control. Terror washed over Gwenda's features; she was unable to move or even make a sound.
