The Lycan King's Fate Calling novel Chapter 1052

Crystal's POV:

I took my son out for a walk that evening when I received a call from Blair. I declined without a second thought, not wanting to get involved in any trouble.

But Blair was persistent, and kept calling me for the next few minutes. In the end, I had no choice but to find a quiet place to take the call.

"Hello, what's up?" I asked in a low voice. "Do you have any news about Ian?"

"Why are you whispering like a thief?" Blair teased, chuckling to herself.

"I don't want Rufus' men to find me talking to you," I spoke under my breath, cupping my hand over my phone's speaker as I did. I glanced around and sighed in relief when I saw no one. Even so, I knew that there must be someone out there who was spying on me in the dark.

"Don't worry. Rufus won't tamper with your phone." Blair sounded confident as he reassured me.

"I sincerely doubt that. Rufus is already suspicious of me. I have no idea what he's thinking. In any case, I need to take extra precautions and be more careful at this time."

Blair sighed, and then her tone became serious. "We haven't found Ian yet. I have something important to tell you, though."

"All right, go ahead." His manner was infectious, and I grew somber as well.

"It's true that Rufus is suspecting you. The main purpose of this investigation on the border pack is to dig up information about you. I intended to brush him off, but I unexpectedly ran into some other complications while I was investigating." Blair paused for a moment, and when he continued, his voice seemed to have gone deeper. "My men caught two spies hidden among the pack. They work for the vampires."
