When Shunpei heard that Roger was asking him to lead a team to conduct research and investigation in Oskia, he was overjoyed.
He basically agreed without hesitation, and he stood u p straight like a soldier as he bowed and said, "Don't worry, Mr. Roger. I will do my best to complete the mission!"
Roger was very satisfied with Shunpei’s attitude, and h e said, "You have to make sure to give me all of the details without letting go of any clues when you arrive in Oskia!”
Shunpei nodded repeatedly and said without hesitation, "I will do my best!”
Although Shunpei had already been working hard in the United States for many years, he had never been given much attention in the European and American-dominated teams because he was of Asian descent. S o, he had never been given any good opportunities for promotions either.
As he grew older, Shunpei had begun to worry about his future ever since the past two years.
His current income in the United States was not much, but it would not be right to say that it was little.
However, since his wife was a very traditional Japanese woman, her daily job was to care for her
husband and children at home. Therefore, Shunpei had to carry and bear all of the expenses of the entire family by himself.
Shunpei had three children, and the oldest one was about to go to college whereas the two younger ones were still in high school. However, since his children were all immigrants, their English was not very proficient, and their grades in school could only be considered average.
This was especially so for his eldest son. Although he was about to head to college soon, he had no chance of getting a college scholarship and so, all of his future college expenses would cost at least thirty to forty thousand US dollars a year.
Coupled with his housing loan, car loan, property tax, and other expenses, the pressure on Shunpei was getting bigger and bigger.
Therefore, Shunpei, who was already middle-aged, only had thoughts about climbing up the ladder again at this point.
At the very least, he wanted to cope with his wife and children's future life as well as his children’s education easily without letting them feel aggrieved.
It was precisely because of this that he decided to come forward and win Roger's favor by making some remarks after overhearing the exchange between Roger and Smith earlier.
