Emotions welled up in his chest as he lamented that fact. He asked Janus, "Uncle Janus, how did you end up in New York afterwards?”
Janus flashed Charlie a wry smile. "After Master Curtis's death, I secretly went to Aurous Hill to mourn. When I was about to return to Hong Kong, the man who wanted t o kill me before happened to catch wind of his death as well. He immediately issued another order to take my life. I realized I couldn’t return to Hong Kong, so I could smuggle myself from Oskia to the United States. I’ve been staying here ever since..."
Janus then asked Charlie, "Where have you been all these years, Young Master Wade? Mr. Golding traveled to almost every corner of the world in order to find you. He even came to the United States several times. I also helped him to look for you here, but to no avail...”
Quinn added her two cents. "Brother Charlie! When my father and I came to New York to look for you, Uncle Janus was the one who welcomed us. Right here in this restaurant!"
Having said that, she looked at Janus with a smile. "I remember when I first came to your place with my dad, Uncle Janus. I was just eight years old. The last time I came here was when I was twenty years old. I'm already twenty six now, but your place still hasn't changed at all."
Janus gave her a faint smile. "I'm the kind o f person who finds it difficult to change after I've gotten used to something. To put it bluntly, I am just lazy."
Quinn looked at Charlie and explained, Brother Charlie. When I came to the United States with my father to look for you in the past, Uncle Janus's place would always be our first stop. Uncle Janus's roast goose tastes exceptionally good!"
Janus couldn't care less about modesty. He shot the most crucial question without beating around the bush. "Miss Golding, how and where did you find Young Master Wade?"
Charlie was the one who replied. "I've been i n Aurous Hill all along, Uncle Campbell."
Janus was dumbfounded. Shocked, he stood up and exclaimed in a fluster, "How could that be?! Many people, including Mr. Golding, have gone to Aurous Hill to look for you at the beginning! But none found any clues!"
Charlie then narrated how Stephen had arranged for him to stay in the orphanage.
Janus sighed ruefully after he listened to the whole story. "I've met Stephen Thompson a few times before. I thought he was a straightforward and righteous man, albeit rather rough. I didn't expect him to b e so crafty! He's amazing at hiding you! His concealment strategy is a whole nother level."
