The Man In Rage novel Chapter 1023

All they lacked now was Old Madam Chu's prescription.

Ye Fan returned to the old Chu family home two days later. Besides practicing Dragon God Body with Yu Yun, he had another reason for returning to the place. He wanted to ask Old Madam Chu about her progress with the prescription.

"Hm? No one seems to be around..." Slight confusion arose inside Ye Fan after he yelled repeatedly for someone and received no reply.

Were they out?

As suspicion and doubt gradually unfurled inside Ye Fan, he heard a series of hacking coughs erupting from a distant corner of the house.

"That sounds like Yu Yun." Ye Fan stared in the direction where the coughs had come. Thick billows of smoke were coming out from the kitchen.

"What has that young lady gotten herself into?" Ye Fan's face darkened instantly. He covered his nose and mouth and charged into kitchen, only to have Yu Yun rush headfirst into his arms as she dashed out of the kitchen.

"What the hell were you up to inside? Why is there so much smoke?"

Any ordinary man would have been visibly affected if he had a beautiful woman fall into his arms.

But Ye Fan wasn't. He shoved Yu Yun aside instantly and yelled at her instead.

This wasn't the first time they had had bodily contact. They had to keep their backs against the other when they practiced Dragon God Body.

Ye Fan had grown used to the touch of Yu Yun's skin.

At present, he was more concerned about the smoke billowing from the kitchen.

"Granny's not around. I thought I could cook something for her. I can't seem to get a fire started though. All I get is smoke." Yu Yun seemed to realize that she had made a mess of things. She sounded a lot more subdued than her usual self.

Ashes had blackened her fair cheeks.

She looked ridiculous.

Ye Fan couldn't help himself and burst out laughing.

"Why are you laughing? This isn't the time forthat. Hurry up and take a look inside. Granny's going to yell at me if she sees the mess in the kitchen." Ye Fan's brazen laughter at her misfortune had Yu Yun fuming.

Yu Yun's anxious urging left Ye Fan with no choice but to charge into the smoky kitchen. It didn't take him long to fix her problem.

The thick smoke that had been billowing out from underneath the stove had vanished. In its place was a fire.

"How did you get the fire going? I couldn't get one started no matter what I tried,” asked Yu Yun with a mix of surprise and confusion as she stared at Ye Fan with a face stained with ash and dust.

Ye Fan smirked. "Starting a fire is a difficult and precise art. You're not smart enough.

Don't bother trying."

"What did you just say?" Yu Yun flushed with anger.

The scoundrel had just called her an idiot again.

He had called her an idiot when she had first begun learning swordplay and he had just done it again.

She was a well-respected figure with great influence. No one had spoken to her in such a disrespectful manner before.

Yet here was Ye Fan, mocking her and embarrassing her repeatedly, as if she had no dignity or pride to uphold.

Yu Yun wished so badly to cut him down with her sword.

But they had spent sufficient time together for Ye Fan to know that Yu Yun would never do that. Her raising her sword angrily at him was simply for show. She was just trying to preserve a veneer of her pride. She wouldn't hurt him.

"I think you should get your face cleaned before you try to hack me to pieces. Your face is the color of burnt charcoal. You can help serve the dishes once you're done cleaning yourself,” said Ye Fan with a warm smile.

Yu Yun yelled angrily at him. “You asshole, why didn't you tell me sooner?"

She charged out of the kitchen in a fit of anger and embarrassment.

Ye Fan laughed and shook his head as he watched Yu Yun make a frantic escape. She seemed so silly and endearing.

But he knew that Yu Yun wasn't going to remain this way for long.

He could sense very clearly that Yu Yun's power had been increasing rapidly during the course of their training.

She was different. The Yin Dragon Body inside her gave her healing abilities that far surpassed Ye Fan's.
