"Auntie Ye, didn't you tell Fan's friends and relatives that he was conning back?" asked Lu Wen-Jing a little indignantly.
She thought about how her aunts and uncles and even her cousins came out to welcome them when she went to the Qiu house with her own mother.
Ye Fan had come back for the first time in three years and he was going to spend Lunar New Year here, but only Ye Xi-Mei had come out to welcome him, so Lu Wen-Jing was both puzzled and curious.
After hearing Lu Wen-Jing's question, Ye Xi-Mei suddenly realized that a pretty little girl had followed Ye Fan back as well.
"Fan, this child..." Ye Xi-Mei was shocked and turned to look at Ye Fan.
Ye Xi-Mei clearly thought that this young lady was Ye Fan and Qiu Mu-Cheng's child.
But that wasn't right either.
Ye Fan had only married into the Qiu family for three years, but this girl was definitely at least eleven or twelve. Could she have grown super quickly?
Ye Fan chortled and quickly explained what happened.
Ye Xi-Mei got it now. "Oh, so she's a relative on Mu-Cheng's side."
Ye Xi-Mei had never seen Qiu Mu-Cheng, but she could at least remember the name of her daughter-in-law.”
"Auntie Ye, you haven't answered me yet. Didn't you tell anybody else that Fan is coming home?" asked Lu Wen-Jing again.
Ye Xi-Mei laughed and replied her quietly, "I did, and they're all waiting at home. He's not some government official or a high ranking person in society, did you expect us to be waiting with gongs and cymbals?"
Ye Xi-Mei knew very little about Ye Fan's life after he left the village.
She only knew that Ye Fan had become a live-in son-in-law after leaving.
Even though she was dead against Ye Fan's decision, she couldn't do anything about that. She and her son had to surrender in the face of the cruelty of life, so what else could she do?
But Lu Wen-Jing didn't agree with that. "Auntie Ye, my Fan is amazing! And he's better than all those government officials and high ranking people. So I do think it's appropriate to receive him with gongs and cymbals. Don't you think so, Fan?”
Ye Fan just laughed at Lu Wen-Jing's cheeky and adorable face and patted her head. "You terrible girl. You're pretty young, but you really like the glamorous life."
While they were still chatting and laughing, a large group of people started walking towards them.
Some were large sized, some small sized, some old, some young, some men, some women. There were nearly twenty of them.
As they walked, they looked around anxiously.
"What's going on?"
"It's almost noon time!"
"Quickly call and ask!"
"We're already prepared all the firecrackers!"
"We're just need the person to appear."
The noise from the group attracted Ye Fan's attention.
Ye Fan glanced over and said in surprise, "Huh? Mum, isn't that Grandma and Grandpa? And my uncle and even my aunts?"
Yup - the large group coming their way was Ye Fan's extended family.
Ye Fan's maternal grandfather had two sons and two daughters.
Ye Fan's mother, Ye Xi-Mei, was the eldest daughter of the Ye family.
HAHA! Fan, I knew it! You've come back in glory, so your family would definitely come out to welcome you. You didn't believe me before, so how about now? You believe me now, right?"
