Since Chen Nan pleaded with him like that, Ye Fan finally agreed.
But just when he reached the entrance of the hotel, someone blocked Ye Fan's way.
"I'm sorry sir, but this is a private banquet, so you are not allowed to enter without an invitation card," said the staff at the door very confidently. His firm tone of voice did not leave any room for negotiation.
"He's my friend, so can't I bring a friend in?" grumbled Chen Nan rather unhappily.
But the staff still shook his head. "I'm sorry, Miss. Your invitation card is for only one person, and you are not allowed to bring any guests in."
"You..." Chen Nan was so angry that her face was all red.
"Nannan, forget it."
Ye Fan didn't want to attend this party in the first place. If the staff wasn't letting him in, then he wasn't going to try so hard to get in.
"No! Fan, leave this matter to me.”
But Chen Nan was a stubborn one and immediately made a phone call.
A man and a woman walked over in no time.
The woman was the lady Ye Fan saw earlier. She was Chen Nan's senior from university, Kong Hui.
The man was in a black tuxedo with a tie as well as a Longines mechanical watch on his wrist. He was very meticulously dressed, and was clearly a rich young man from the upper echelons of society.
"Kong Hui, Hao-Nan, you guys are finally here. Fan wants to join the party too, but they're not letting us in," said Chen Nan when she spotted the two of them.
“Nannan, no problem, leave this to us," Kong Hui consoled her.
Liang Hao-Nan walked to the staff and said some things to him.
"Alright Nannan, it's all settled. You can bring your friend in.” Liang Hao-Nan snapped his fingers to show that he had settled this matter.
The staff didn't stop Ye Fan anymore and Ye Fan went in together with them.
"Thank you, Hao-Nan," said Chen Nan as she walked in.
Liang Hao-Nan waved his hand. "It's just a simple matter."
Liang Hao-Nan glanced at Ye Fan and said in a friendly voice, "You must be Nannan's boyfriend, right?"
Liang Hao-Nan looked carefully at Ye Fan and noticed that Ye Fan's clothing was very ordinary looking, so he was certain that Ye Fan was from an ordinary family.
Even though he was fairly good looking, he was quite far off the mark from Chen Nan.
"Bro, you're really lucky. So many rich, talented and handsome young men in the school can't even get Nannan's attention, so I didn't expect you to actually manage to snag such a good catch. In a world that only cares about looks and money, it's really hard to get luck as good as yours," sighed Liang Hao-Nan as he shook his head.
Even though he hadn't specifically mentioned anything, the implied meaning of his words were quite apparent.
In short, Liang Hao-Nan felt that Ye Fan was just a toad who managed to get together with a swan.
Even though Ye Fan wasn't too bad looking, he was nowhere near the standard of those handsome young men in the university. It wasn't wrong to call Ye Fan a toad in that sense.
"Why, are you very envious?" Before Ye Fan could say anything, Kong Hui glared at Liang Hao-Nan first and gave him a fierce look.
Liang Hao-Nan quickly defended himself, "Oh no, no, I'm not envious. I'm just feeling bad for Shao-Jie and the rest of the guys. I
already have such a beautiful girlfriend like you, so I'm not envious of anybody."
Liang Hao-Nan was clearly someone who had gone out with many girls before, so he was really good at sweet-talking.
"Oh by the way, Ye Fan. Tonight's gathering is a private party, and the people we're meeting tonight are all very important and powerful people in Japan. You can go in with us, but remember, don't say too much, don't make any trouble and don't touch anything. Hilton Hotel's furnishings are all very expensive, so don't damage any of them," Liang Hao-Nan reminded Ye Fan beforehand.
