The Reclaimed Rose (Annalise and Steven) novel Chapter 287

Steven had been wrong to be so cruel and merciless in hurting Annalise. Otherwise, they would not be where they are today.

About a mile southeast of the office was a busy food street. Zane suggested walking and said he wanted to exercise, so we strolled over together. At the entrance, the street seemed endless.

"What would you like?" I asked Zane.

Unfamiliar with street food, he hesitated. "Tacos?"

I nodded. "Sure."

There were gourmet food trucks serving fusion tacos, trendy burger joints, and countless other options.

Zane stood out dramatically in his suit among the crowd. His tall frame and elegant bearing drew curious glances from people in casual clothing clustered around the food trucks.

Completely oblivious to the attention, he studied a menu board displaying different types of tacos and picked one of each.

I noticed he was picking all my favorites. After some hesitation, I suggested, "Should we get two of each?"

"It's alright." He murmured close to my ear, "If they're good, we can always order more."

That made sense, so I agreed, "Okay."

I paid for the tacos after he was done choosing. We then stopped at a small pizza place and ordered some pizzas. Finally, we found a spot at one of the outdoor tables.

Ever the gentleman, Zane insisted I try the taco first. It tasted just like the ones from my hometown. It had that perfect blend of flavors.

I nodded and offered him some. "It's got a bit of a kick. Can you handle spicy food?"

"It should be fine." He ate the rest of that taco without flinching.

I watched him carefully.

Zane smiled. "Don't worry. I'm good."
