The Return Of His Unrivaled Ex-Wife (Joanna) novel Chapter 1058

Chapter 1058

The next day.

The two of them got up early in the morning and continued to search.

“We can’t just search aimlessly. We need to narrow down the scope even more.” Bruce frowned with a gloomy expression.

“How do we narrow it down?” Darcy took out the map again.

“Let’s go back to the place yesterday. There were traces of a chase and a fight there. It must be around that area.” Bruce decided to go to the area where the corpse was found yesterday.

He had a feeling that the microchips were definitely nearby.

“Didn’t we already look around that area yesterday? Wouldn’t it be a waste of our time to search around there again today?” Darcy asked in confusion.

“No, the forest is big and there are many trees. We might have missed something.”Let’s search carefully today. If we still can’t find it, we will back first,” Bruce said in a deep voice.

Darcy nodded. “Okay, okay.”

After the two of them ate some bread and drank some water, they began to return to the place where the corpse had been found the day before.

This time, the two of them searched very carefully. They were practically searching every single tree, one at a time, and would draw a mark on trees that have been checked.

It was almost noon.

Darcy finally saw a knife mark on a crooked tree. “Mr. Everett, look, what is this?”

When Bruce heard the shout, he immediately walked over. A crooked tree stood in front of him. The branch had been cut off with a knife.

Something seemed to be stuck inside.

“Hurry up and take it out.”

Bruce immediately reached into the tree and took out a black plastic bag.

“Why is it empty?”

The plastic bag had been torn as if it had been scratched by some animal.

“Could the microchips have been taken somewhere else by animals?”

“Look around.”

The two of them circled the crooked tree again and searched carefully.

After searching for a few minutes, they really found something. At the top of the tree, there was a tree hole filled with many wild fruits.

“Here!” Darcy exclaimed excitedly and quickly reached into the hole.

It was a squirrel’s nest. Darcy started taking out the nuts and wild fruits. Soon enough, a small black box could be seen.

Bruce took it from Darcy and looked at it. Just as they had expected, there were microchips inside. “That’s it. This must be the microchips left behind by the Eprarians.”

“That’s great. We finally found it!” Bruce smiled in relief.

Darcy was also very excited. “Mr. Everett, since the microchips have been found, let’s hurry back!”

“Yes.”

The two of them did not dare to delay for a moment longer. They hurriedly took the microchips and prepared to return to the car by retracing their steps.

It had taken them several hours to get to this location as it was hard for the two of them to walk while they checked the map. Perhaps it was because there was no need to think of navigating their way back, going back only took them half the time.

More than three hours later.

The two of them had already reached the car, and it was still parked in the same place. “Hurry up and get in the car. I can’t wait to tell all of them the good news.”

“This trip wasn’t in vain. We finally found the microchips.”

“With these microchips, the secret of District 17 will soon be revealed to the world.”

Darcy was especially excited. He quickly started the car and wanted to leave this godforsaken place as soon as possible.

“Mr. Everett, where should we go now?”

Bruce raised his eyebrows. “Let’s go to the camp first and meet up with Aria and the others.”

“Yes, okay.”

“Whoosh.” The car stirred up a gush of wind and roared into action.

After driving for about an hour, two jeeps suddenly blocked their way.

Seven or eight people in bomb suits and guns appeared, preventing them from advancing further.

“Stop the car.” The leader, a Meltarian, gestured for the car to stop.

Seeing this, Darcy panicked. “Mr. Everett, this is bad! They must be the patrol team!”

Bruce’s expression darkened. He said coldly, “Don’t stop the car. We’ll have to charge across.”

“All right, Mr. Everett. Sit tight.”

Bruce subconsciously took out a few guns from under his scat.

At this point, they could only charge across. If they stopped the car, what awaited them was death.

Darcy accelerated and broke through the protective fence. He knocked down a parked jeep and charged across forcefully.

The Meltarians behind him instantly became nervous.

Without another word, they opened fire.

“Bang, bang, bang!”

A burst of bullets hit the trunk of the car. Fortunately, the car had been modified to be resistant to explosions. It would be hard for ordinary bullets to penetrate it.

“Oh no! They’re catching up.”

“Click.” Bruce reloaded the gun and started shooting at the car that was chasing after them.

Although this was no man’s land, the Melta military sent drones to patrol the area.

In the past two days, Bruce and Darcy had been too close to the core of District 17 and their presence had been captured by the military drones.

Now, a patrol team had been sent to investigate.

“Bang, bang, bang!”

“Boom!”

The car’s tires were blown up. The car tipped and crashed into the road sign.

“Mr. Everett, the tires are flat. “We can only get out of the car.”

“Hurry up, grab the gun.” Bruce ruthlessly handed a gun to Darcy.

The two of them jumped out of the car and occupied an advantageous terrain, preparing to fight to the death with the patrol team.

The Meltarian patrol team soon arrived.

“Bang, bang, bang!” Another round of hullets was fired.

Bruce and Darcy held their guns and began to shoot at the Meltarians.

Although they had prepared weapons, there was no way it would be enough against the Meltarians. The people chasing them were the secret forces of District 17. It was only normal that they had more weapons.

“Shit, I’m out of bullets.”
