Chapter 824
Once they arrived at the hospital.
Bruce finally heaved a sigh of relief and sent Joanna into the operating room.
He staggered, and his vision turned black as he fell forward.
The two bodyguards reacted quickly and instantly supported him. “Mr. Everett, Mr. Everett.”
“Oh no, Mr. Everett has fainted. Hurry up and call the doctor…”
Bruce had already lost consciousness.
He injected himself with the third antiviral serum but was physically exhausted.
Moreover, it seemed that the serum was very potent. After injecting it into his body, it caused his body to develop a high fever and drowsiness.
Until this point, he had relied entirely on his willpower to keep going.
Ten hours later.
Bruce had slept long before finally waking up in a daze.
“Joann…Joann…”
Darcy and Benny were close to him, guarding him. They came over to greet him when they saw that he was awake. “Mr. Everett, you’re awake?”
Bruce opened his eyes weakly. After nearly a minute, the nerves in his brain finally wired back to normal. “…Where’s Joann? Where is she now?”
Bruce suddenly sat up straight.
Because he got up too quickly, he felt a rush in his brain. His head felt congested, and it hurt even more before it calmed.
“Mr. Everett, don’t worry. Madam has already received treatment. She’s resting in the ward now…”
“I need to see her immediately!” Bruce said as he lifted the blanket. He was anxious to see Joanna.
Unable to dissuade Bruce, the two bodyguards had no choice but to bring him to Joanna’s ward.
In the other ward.
Joanna’s left arm was splinted, and her head was wrapped in thick gauze.
Many parts of her body were sealed with needles, and her wounds were bandaged. She was a shocking sight to see.
Her injuries looked severe, but they were not fatal.
She would fully heal after three to five months of recovery.
“Bang!” Bruce pushed the door open.
“Honey, honey, how are you feeling?” Bruce took three steps and then basically flew to Joanna’s bed.
Joanna’s eyes were so swollen she could barely open them. Her head was also bandaged like a mummy. “… Cough, cough… Thank goodness, he’s not dead…”
Bruce heard this, and his eyes instantly turned red. “I’m sorry, honey. I’ve made you suffer a lot.”
“We have been shown mercy. We are fortunate to have survived,” Joanna said weakly, smiling at Bruce.
Aria had forced her into a corner.
Deep in her heart, she felt like she was doomed. She had even thought of her last words.
When Bruce heard Joanna say those words of gratitude, he held her hand tighter.
Their eyes seemed to be glued to each other. Both of them felt like they had been reborn after surviving a calamity.
After that life-and-death mishap, their feelings, for each other grew even stronger.
Their love was pure; it was a valuable and everlasting kind.
“Honey, I love you. I’m terrified of losing you,” Bruce said as he gently buried his head in Joanna’s arms.
*If you leave me, I won’t be able to live…”
“Me too, honey. I’m also afraid of losing you.” Joanna wrapped her right hand around his neck gently. Her voice could not. help but choke up.
It felt so good to be alive.
She had never been afraid of death in the
past.
However, in that life-and-death moment, she realized her life was precious.
She had so many things to worry about, especially her children. She could not bear to part with them.
“I want to go home. I miss the children so much…”
“When you feel better. I’ll go back home immediately.”
“I want to go back now. I don’t want to wait another moment.”
Bruce listened-he agreed with her.
“No, your injuries are quite serious now. You have to receive treatment in the hospital for some time.”
Joanna sniffled sadly. “I can take it. I want to go home now. I don’t want to stay here for a moment longer.”
When Bruce heard her, he frowned and pondered for a few seconds. “Alright, I’ll make the arrangements now.”
