The Return Of His Unrivaled Ex-Wife (Joanna) novel Chapter 837

Chapter 837

“Then I’ll get going first. Goodbye, Mr. Thompson.”

“Goodbye,” Mr. Thompson replied with a smile.

After saying goodbye to Mr. Thompson, Bruce rushed to the hospital uneasily.

Aria Bridges was now missing.

This made him extremely uneasy.

After this bloody lesson, he had a deep understanding of Aria and was even more shocked by her madness.

“Now that she had gone missing. Would she come to harass Joanna and me again?” he wondered.

Thinking of this, Bruce felt suffocated and subconsciously reached for the cigarette in his pocket.

When he was upset, he wanted to smoke.

After fumbling around his pocket for a while, he did not find a cigarette.

He had already promised Joanna to quit smoking. Now, he had finally made some progress.

It was better not to smoke again.

However, he still comforted himself in his heart that Aria had cancer and probably wouldn’t live long. So she probably wouldn’t have the chance to look for him again. Of course, he couldn’t let his guard down.

9:20 PM at the hospital.

Bruce returned to the hospital.

“Click!” He gently pushed open the door.

“Mr. Everett…” Miranda and a nurse quickly stood up to greet him.

The lights in the ward had been turned off, leaving only a small bedside lamp. Joanna should be asleep.

“Is Joann asleep?”

“Oh, she’s already asleep. Do you want me to wake her up?” The servant asked respectfully.

Hearing this, Bruce quickly waved his hand. “Shh, lower your voice. Don’t wake Joann up.”

Hearing this, Miranda and the servant quickly shut up.

Bruce walked into the ward inside and came to the bed quietly.

Joanna lay on the bed with her eyes closed. It looked like she was sleeping soundly.

She had splints on her hands and a repair belt on her waist.

There were layers of gauze wrapped around her head, making her look a little tragic.

Bruce’s heart skipped a beat. He sat down quietly at the head of the bed. As he gazed upon the slumbering Joanna, a faint ache tugged at the depths of his heart.

He was really afraid that Aria would come looking for him and Joanna again.

Mr. Thompson’s words today made him waver again.

He wanted to withdraw from the organization entirely, but… he was a little reluctant. He was really conflicted now, and his heart was incomparably conflicted.

Three minutes later.

Bruce still didn’t say anything. Joanna quietly opened her eyes. Seeing him sitting at the head of the bed in a daze, Joanna suddenly asked, “You’re back?”

Bruce was in a daze and was shocked. “You’re awake?”

“I wasn’t sleeping,” Joanna retorted with a hint of annoyance.

How could she possibly sleep?

How could she be at ease when Bruce went out to discuss business at night?

Even though she knew that he would not do anything bad..

However, she could not help but let her imagination run wild. After all, Bruce had been in a few accidents in a row. Now that he was out, she was naturally a little worried.

“Why aren’t you sleeping?” Bruce gently stroked her hair.

Joanna did not answer the question but asked, “Why are you back so early? How can I sleep if you’re not back?”

Bruce looked down at his watch. “It’s already half past nine. It’s not too early!”

“Hmph, I thought you would play until one or two.”

“Why would I? I was meeting a client, not eating, drinking, or having fun. Besides, you’re still lying in the hospital. I’m not in the mood to play,” Bruce said as he continued to stroke Joanna’s hair gently.

“At least you have some conscience.”

Bruce smiled gently, his eyes filled with tenderness. “Honey, are you hungry? Do you want to eat something?”

“I’m not hungry. I just feel uncomfortable all over. I really want to get up and have a walk.” Joanna had been lying on the bed for a few days.

Lying on the hospital bed for so many days was really uncomfortable. Especially since there were two or three fractures on her bone, she couldn’t even move, let alone go to the bathroom

Although the intensive caregiver and servants took care of her meticulously, she was still in a distraught state.

“Don’t move. Hurry up and lie down. You can’t get up yet. The doctor said that you have to lie down and rest. For the fractured part, it needs more careful nurturing.” Bruce was afraid that Joanna would move, so he quickly warned her.

“Alas…” Joanna let out a heavy sigh.
