He was wearing a mask because he did not want to stand out. He had left a deep impression on a lot of people in Chaos City. His name was spreading, and quite a few people could recognize him through his face alone.
When they squeezed past the ground, they bumped into quite a few people. As they walked forward, they would bump into arms or step on their feet, but everyone was already used to it. It was something unavoidable, so they would glare at most.
Rudy's lips twitched as he reached out to grab Fane, whispering, "We've been moving for so long and we haven't even made it that far in. These guys are so weird. Why is everyone gathering here? The plain is so wide, can't they just move further out?"
That was something Rudy could not understand. The Violet Seven Deaths Array was at the center of the whole plain. In front was a large city. Yet, everyone was only gathered in the center area. There was not much of a crowd in the outer areas.
Initially, Rudy thought that there was something special in the center. Yet, after looking around for so long, he could not tell why they were all gathered there.
If someone from the outside wanted to go in, they would need to go past the crowd. It was quite annoying having to navigate through a sea of people. Fane raised an eyebrow and shook his head, saying, "Who knows?"
The moment he said that there were exclamations in front. A purple light flashed in the air, and three figures were tossed out. The three men shouted in the air before they quickly activated their true energy to balance themselves, preventing them from slamming into the ground.
Fane looked over and saw the three of them looking pale. Their clothes were quite torn and their hair was disheveled. They were in a bad state. It was as if they had just been beaten up before being tossed out.
The three of them had ashen looks on their faces as if they had just gone through a major setback. All of them looked miserable. One of them said, "I told you! I told you to be on the alert. Do you think the Water Killing Array is so easy to get past? The two of you refused to listen to me! You insisted on rushing forward! Look what happened!"
Another one said unhappily, "All you know is to hide! Is there any point in just hiding? What has to come will come eventually, if we can't pass, then we can't. Shut your mouth. Stop trying to blame us blindly. If you were really that skilled, you would have been able to pass even with us dragging you down!"
Fane realized that the three of them had been kicked out of the array after failing. They were all injured, but it was nothing life-threatening.
Fane could not help but smirk when he thought about that. He turned around to look at the air that was full of violet fog. He had thought that the rules would get crueler and crueler the further they advanced. The further they got, the more death would play a part.
As long as they failed, they would have to die. He never expected the Violet Seven Deaths Array to be so humane. After they have failed, they would just be tossed out without wasting their lives. Many lives were spared like that, and most of the unskilled ones had been kicked out.
Even though the rules caused some of the slightly stronger warriors who were just unlucky to be eliminated, the truly strong ones would still be able to pass with their own skills.
Fane raised an eyebrow as he mumbled, "Why is this rule in place? What's the point of having random companions?"
