The substitute bride is a mute novel Chapter 51

"He… wants you to bring your wife along," Jeremy replied.

Clark furrowed his brows at that.

After dinner with Lilly, Judy returned to the Reid manor. It was already late by the time she arrived, and everyone had already gone to bed.

Judy let out a sigh of relief at that. Quietly, she returned to her room to change her clothes.

As she put away her clothes, Judy caught sight of the small, black box that her mother left her. As she recalled Lilly's words, Judy's instincts told her that there was a secret hiding inside this box.

Just as she was turning the box this way and that to study it, Judy heard a door open nearby. Clark's study was next to her room.

Was he at home?

Startled, Judt hastily shoved the box back into her closet.

After a while, Clark's study went quiet. But Judy was still uneasy. After hesitating, she opened the door, only to see that the kitchen lights were on. She could see someone's figure cast a shadow on the wall.

This wasn't Judy's first time seeing Clark make tea in the middle of the night. They had house staff to attend to their needs, but Clark rarely called them.

"Is spying also something that Matthew asked you to do?" a frosty voice asked from the kitchen.

A shiver went through Judy as she was pulled back to the present. As she stood there with a hand on the rails, she wondered if she should go downstairs or head back to her room.

"Bring the tea up to my study once you've finished making it." Having said that, Clark placed an opened container of tea leaves on the table before heading upstairs.

Judy stood there for a bit before going to the kitchen to do as she was told.

Clark often had a cup of tea when he was working in his study at night. This was the first thing that Judy learned about him after she married him.

The lovely, delicate scent of tea spread through the study when Judy entered.

"I heard that your grandmother has had surgery?" Judy was about to leave after she had brought the tea, but Clark's voice stopped her in her tracks.
