Arriving at the abyss, Austin looked out from the rock he perched on. Single-plank bridges ran across the endless darkness and people were being herded across them like sheep. Squinting his eyes, Austin noticed that they were all disciples of the famous sects and the four schools in the Middle Pilgrim Land.
Each single-plank bridge was guarded by senior cultivators, and all the ones from the other four regions of the Divine Continent were blocked. Austin could see some of the cultivators as they argued to use the bridges, but the elders remained stoic and didn't answer their questions.
Even though the cultivators from the other four regions did not agree the arrangement, they had no choice. Those people of the Middle Pilgrim Land were strong and their fighting skills were advanced. If the cultivators from the other four regions were to fight against them, even if the former worked together, it would be unlikely that they would emerge victorious.
Before a battle could take place, the people of the Middle Pilgrim Land had passed the abyss, and the others were allowed to cross the single-plank bridges.
Seeing this, Austin jumped from the rock and sneaked into the line of the cultivators. Finally, he was able to cross the abyss.
On the other end of the bridge, a valley filled with spiritual energy spread out in front of them. It was already crowded with people, but that didn't discourage the newcomers.
Brown mountains hugged the horizon. They weren't very tall and purple spiritual energy floated off the tops of them like steam from a kettle. The entire place resembled a fairyland one would find depicted in a storybook.
In the distance, a purple cliff rose and vines glinted in the light. The aroma of high-grade superior herbs wafted through the air.
It was a pure land, peaceful and intimate. There weren't any poisonous insects or beasts present. It was home of thousands of rare superior herbs and precious natural materials, all found in the gaps of the mountain walls. At a glance, everything had a mesmerizing purple glow.
"Wow, there are so many treasures here!
Let's collect until there are none left!"
The cultivators nodded in approval and split off in different directions, rushing to collect as much as possible.
A lot of the treasures had already been picked off around the entrance of the valley. The unfair head start of the people of the Middle Pilgrim Land and the four schools had worked in their favor.
Austin felt pleasure course through his veins as he joined the group entering the valley. He would be rich by the time he left.
By now, all the cultivators except for Austin had collect at least one of the high-grade superior herbs or precious natural materials. He was too distracted by the beauty of the place.
Snapping out of it, he noticed something peculiar. When the cultivators tried to activate their bodily movement skills, they couldn't lift off the ground.
It didn't matter whether or not they had high cultivation base levels; they all had to run on the ground in order to collect.
If one encountered a mountain, they had no choice but to climb up from the bottom to the top.
More specifically, there were superior herbs and treasures on the precipices of the mountains. In order to reach them, they would have to make the dangerous climb to the tip to pluck them.
To succeed in this valley, a cultivator had to be strong.
A smile spread on Austin's cheeks. He was easily the strongest among the cultivators there.
Taking off at full speed, he outran everyone he had arrived with.
Running on the flat ground and climbing the mountain was so simple to Austin that he laughed while doing it.
When he tackled the precipices, he was like an agile monkey swinging from branch to branch.
He could afford to be picky while he collected and he only took the treasures of the highest quality, filling his Space Ring.
"Damn it! How can that guy run so fast?"
"He is just like a leopard. Is he part cat?"
As Austin flew past them, they stopped what they were doing and watched him with narrowed eyes.
They all knew that whoever moved the fastest would get more treasures, so they were very anxious when they saw Austin's astonishing speed.
"Hey, boy! What are you doing? I saw the eighth-grade superior herbs on that cliff first.
And I have already climbed halfway. You can't cut in line, so get behind me!"
Dozens of cultivators were climbing a cliff but the one in front was the angriest. The quality of the superior herbs there was so tempting that Austin climbed as fast as lightning. He sat above the other cultivators' heads and started plucking them contentedly.
Below him, the cultivators had just reached the middle of the cliff and began shouting at him and shaking their fists.
"Are you kidding me?
I also spotted all the superior herbs and treasures here earlier.
If that is the rule, then don't they all belong to me? See? Your rule is stupid!"
