No matter how hard the two men tried to persuade their senior fellow disciple, he didn't change his mind.
"What's the point of making allies?
Allies will only turn their backs on you.
Don't be fooled.
We can't trust others in this situation.
Don't mention this ever again! We're not going to team up with others, and that's final.
The three of us should stick together, and that's the only way to survive.
If you don't listen to me and still intend to work with other opponents, you are free to go," the senior disciple said with a livid face.
Hearing this, the two men shook their heads in disappointment. "You...
You are always so stubborn," one of them remarked with a sigh.
"Forget it. It's your call. We will respect your decision.
We are not going to team up with others,"
said the other.
"Great. As you know, I am doing this for our sake... Damn it! What are you doing? !"
Suddenly, a sword appeared out of thin air and began charging towards the senior disciple.
The sword impaled him in the chest and went out his back.
A pool of blood gushed out of his wound and formed on the ground.
The sudden turn of events even caught Austin who was watching in the distance by great surprise.
Before the senior disciple could react, the two men each hit him with one palm, causing him to lose his balance.
The injured man spat out blood and was already too weak to fight.
"You bastards. We are from the same sect. How dare you attack me?!
God damn it. Go to hell, you assholes!" he yelled at the two men with all his strength left.
His eyes were filled with both fear and anger.
One of the two men who injured the senior disciple laughed wildly. "You had it coming.
You should have listened to us," he said with a smug look on his face.
"The result of this competition will determine our fate. If we lost, we would all die.
We can't let you make such a crucial decision for us.
Humph!
We have had enough of you.
You are so arrogant and headstrong, not to mention mean when we were in the sect," he continued.
The more reasons he gave, the angrier he had become.
"Do you know why we plotted to get rid of you?
You are not qualified to make such crucial decisions during these times. From the moment you refused to team up with the others you have already buried your own grave.
Humph! We don't want to die with you.
Also, do you remember what you did to me in our sect?
Betty and I were in love, but you took her away from me and forced yourself on her!
Humph! The only reason I couldn't do anything was because of the influence and power you hold.
I thought I wouldn't be able to exact my revenge on you for the rest of my life. I thought I had to live with what you did to Betty for all eternity. But the universe granted my wish today. Today, I will have my revenge!" He let out a mad laughter.
Nothing felt better than finally getting even with that treacherous man.
The senior disciple laid on his own pool of blood, unable to say or do anything but stare at the two men standing in front of him.
"Cut the crap. Let's do it,"
the other man said to the one who spoke.
"Okay!"
The man who held a grudge against the senior disciple inched forward step by step, relishing the moment he had long been waiting for.
"Ha-ha! You have never seen this coming, have you?
Ha-ha! Today is the best day in my whole life."
As the man took another step, something unexpected happened again.
While the man drew closer to the injured man, a beam of sword light hit his back.
"Ha-ha!"
The man standing still broke out laughing.
"Colbert, how could you do this to me?"
The man who got hit stopped in his tracks. Shock crept up on his face, as a cold feeling washed over him making him tremble.
Then he fell to the ground and coughed up blood. He gaped at the third man called Colbert who was standing beside him with a vicious sneer.
"You haven't seen this coming either, have you?"
Colbert repeated what the man said in a mocking tone.
