As he stared past into the mountains, the scene gave him the feeling that he returned to ancient times where savageness was still very common.

"Are you hearing that too? We've heard it a lot of times. After we had escaped here, we originally intended to go further ahead. Moreover, we could hear those monks chanting from time to time.
