The Unwilling CEO's Love Game novel Chapter 267

The gatherings of four often left someone feeling like an odd one out, burdened with a heavy heart.

Ursula and Jocelyn could chat away with ease, but the two men hadn't exchanged a single word.

As the food was served, Ursula suddenly clutched her mouth, heaving as if she might retch.

"What's wrong?" Jocelyn quickly asked.

Harrison also looked at Ursula with concern. "What's the matter?"

"It's nothing, just a whiff of something made me feel sick," Ursula breathed deeply, but the sight of the roast chicken at the center of the table made her gag again.

She turned and bolted from the room, her hand covering her mouth. Jocelyn followed swiftly, "I'll check on her."

Harrison looked worried, while Melvin remained cool as a cucumber.

In the restroom, Ursula was gagging, her face ashen.

"You're not... pregnant, are you?"

It was the first thought came to Jocelyn’s mind.

Ursula froze.

Jocelyn frowned, "When was your last period?"

Ursula's eyes widened in disbelief before dropping to her stomach. "I, I..."

"Uh-huh?" Jocelyn's voice held a hint of excitement. "Are you?"

Ursula opened her mouth, but couldn’t utter anything.

"Your hesitation shows its possibility." Jocelyn clapped her back with a smile. "Look at you two, that honeymoon really did the trick. Let's go get some food and then head straight to the hospital."

Ursula took a deep breath, still not quite sure. "It can't be that coincidental, can it?"

"Odds are in your favor." Jocelyn helped her out of the restroom, grinning. "Harrison will be over the moon if you're pregnant."

At the mention of Harrison, Ursula's smile faded slightly. She wasn't sure if Harrison would indeed be happy about it.

"Let's not tell him yet. I want to get checked out first, then I'll tell him. Otherwise, it'll be awkward." Ursula was cautious.

"Planning a surprise?" Jocelyn chuckled.

Ursula just wanted to know if Harrison was truly looking forward to the arrival of the child—if there was a child. She couldn't say this to Jocelyn, so she just smiled, letting it pass as agreement.

Back at the table, Harrison's worried gaze met Ursula. "Are you okay?"

"Just a bit under the weather; my stomach feels off," Ursula avoided looking at the chicken soup.

Jocelyn, ever so considerate, moved the chicken soup aside, keeping it well away from Ursula.

Seeing Ursula was alright, Harrison finally relaxed.

After dinner, the two couples went their separate ways, exiting the restaurant.

After bidding their farewell, Jocelyn and Melvin got into their car.

She buckled up and asked Melvin, "What did you and Harrison talk about?"

"How do you know I talked to him?" Melvin retorted.

"You can’t be just sitting there in silence?" Jocelyn was skeptical.

Melvin snorted, recalling the conversation with Harrison after Jocelyn and Ursula had left for the restroom.

Harrison was the first to speak, offering a simple "Congratulations."

Melvin accepted graciously, "Thanks."

"I'm surprised Jocelyn chose to stay with you. Even more surprised that after two years, you still managed to marry her," Harrison was blunt.

Melvin watched him quietly, "Sounds like you're a bit sore about it."

"I just can't fathom how her feelings for you run so deep that she can overlook everything you've done," Harrison admitted his bitterness. They had been happy together, seemingly a perfect match, so why couldn't she spare a sliver of affection for him? She could always forgive Melvin, wait for him, even after being hurt, she chose him without a second thought.

Why?
