Chapter 73

Michael took Angie along with him when he left the police station

Roderick pulled Melanie into the car she took to get here

Mela!he uttered

Melanie had remained silent and disregarded Roderick ever since getting into the

car

She stared blankly out of the car

She didn’t know what was on her mind, or rather, she wasn’t thinking at all

Mela!Roderick called her twice before he could bring her back to reality

When Melanie came back to her senses, she found a pair of attractive eyes full of

concern

She suddenly came to believe that Angie was really getting married

Soon after their accidental onenight romance, Angie decided to marry Michael

Should people get married after sleeping together

Melanie thought, In that case, can I lead an independent life while raising three kids?‘

Melanie couldn’t understand Angie’s decision

Mela.”

Melanie didn’t realize he had been holding her hand until then. Don’t call me,she said, shaking off Roderick’s hand

Mela.”

His deep voice was laced with some sadness

Melanie exclaimed inwardly, Damn it!‘

Melanie’s mood would instantly change each time he called her like that

It was no exception, even though she was feeling strangely irate right now

She felt frustrated

Melanie curled up against the opposite window, covering her ears with her tiny fingers and holding her head with both hands to stay away from him

Mela.”

Melanie exclaimed silently, Oh, my goodness!‘

She couldn’t completely block his voice from coming through. His soft voice. struck her like a shockwave

It felt as though his voice was ringing a bell attached to her heart

Her heart would tinkle every time she heard his dragging voice calling her in this

way

MelaI’m sorry,he said

Melanie realized that Roderick was giving her an explanation about taking her to Kdeal when she heard him apologize

Melanie didn’t say anything. She knew that Roderick had done nothing wrong

Angie raced a car, rushed to Kdeal got into a fight here, and was caught by the police. Not a single one of these things was trivial

Had it not been for Roderick, Angie might have spent an indeterminate amount of time behind bars and suffered

For Angie to return, he merely asked her to come here and sign her name. How could she possibly expect Roderick to apologize to her when he had done her such a big favor

She had to share the same car with Roderick to come to Kdeal. So what? She needed his help in the first place

Even if he had taken advantage of her, holding her hand and looking at her, what could she say

Roderick was sick and simply wanted to find comfort in her

Chapter 73

Melanie thought silently, not responding to him

After a while, she heard him talking again, Mela, do you remember that night from seven years ago?”

I have been looking for you for the past seven years since then

For the past seven years, I’ve been doing something every day that I never did as a kid. Do you know why?”

Melanie remained silent, but she pricked up her ear and listened carefully

Heh.”

Roderick chuckled

Mela, I make the same wish every day, hoping to see you again

But ever since I saw you on the plane that day, I’ve been wishing to see you all the time

Roderick then sighed

Mela, am I too greedy?”

Melanie listened silently, feeling deeply touched

She could relate to the kind of daytoday miss in his words, just as she had thought about that night a lot over the years

And seven years later, they met again. She became flustered and her heart raced every time he came close to her and touched her, whether on purpose or accidentally

She didn’t know what was wrong with her

How could she fall in love with this man who had made up such a ridiculous deal and whom she had never met before

Heaven! This is ridiculous! she exclaimed inside

Melanie moved her body slightly, but she still didn’t say anything

However, I don’t know anything that happened between Angie and Michael this
