JADEN
She looked like she'd just had a hell of a nightmare. Her face was as white as sheets and strands of her dark hair stuck to her damp skin. She refused to meet my gaze again. As unbelievable as it sounded, I knew she was embarrassed. I mean, Rhea has always been shameless. Still, she is a box of surprises. You never know what you're going to get when it comes to dealing with matters that concerns Rhea.
"Why are you here?" She said, brushing her hair away from her face. She was looking at everything else, but me.
"You screamed. I was..."
She cut me off, a ferocious look in her eyes. If I didn't know better, I would've believed that she was planning to rip me apart.
"I told you, Mr Blackwood. I do not need your pity," she said through gritted teeth, and rose to her feet, a challenging look in her grey eyes. She didn't understand why I'd actually come downstairs to make sure she was alright, because if she did, she wouldn't be acting the way she was acting.
"Rhea..." I started to say, but she cut me off again. It was something I hated. I was getting riled up about the fact that Rhea had seemed to make cutting me off, her newest hobby.
"Not a word from you, Mr Blackwood. You should leave me alone. I am not a damsel in distress. I do not understand why you saw the need to come rushing into my room just because I probably screamed," She said, her eyes flashing with annoyance.
"Rhea..."
She cut me off again.
"Didn't I ask you to leave my room?" She said and that was it. I grabbed her by the wrists and pinned her to the wall with her hands above her head. Her eyes widened, her chest heaving as a result of how tensed she'd become.
"Stop it," I growled, barely reining in my wolf.
"Stop what?" She breathed, not taking her eyes off me.
"Stop interrupting me. It irks me, Rhea. I hate it," I said and she swallowed hard, but the fierceness in her eyes didn't leave.
"For the record, I didn't come in here because I merely heard you scream. You called my name," I told her and she stiffened, her eyes widening a little bit more. "Why would I call your name?" She asked. She sounded less confident.
"Tell me, why would I lie about something like that?" I asked and she continued to stare at me, unable to say anything.
"So, what if I called your name? It's not like you care about me. You clearly said you don't want me. Just leave me alone" she said. I slowly released my grip on her and stared at her for a moment. She walked away from me and went to stand by the window. Was I really going to pretend that she had no effect on me? But, for how long would I be able to keep up the facade.
"Why aren't you leaving yet? Do you perhaps want to spend the night here? We could do a lot of things tonight. I'm down for all kinds of activities," Rhea spoke, closing her eyes.
I left her room not because I was irritated or annoyed. At first, everything she did was annoying. But, at this point, I found her amusing. The woman clearly had no filter. She was so different from Sheila.
I found Klaus sitting on the couch in the sitting room having a chat with Trisha. They were both tensed. I didn't need to use my supernatural senses to know that. I lowered myself onto a settee, my hands resting on the armrest. They remained silent, the both of them avoiding my gaze.
"Do I have to force you to tell me what's going on?" I said and they both stiffened.
"It's nothing serious. Klaus and I just had a little misunderstanding," Trisha blurted and Klaus glared at her. He wasn't even trying to hide it.
"Alright, spit it out. Now" I ordered.
"Trisha knows exactly what the fuse is about. I think she should tell you what's going on with her," Klaus uttered.
I looked at Trisha, my patience already wearing thin. "Are you going to talk or what?" I said and she gave me a nervous smile.
"I-I haven't been in the right state of mind, lately...." She began and I stared at her, blankly. As soon as she parted her lips again, my phone rang. Narrowing my eyes, I picked up my phone and left the sitting room.
"Jaden. I have no idea what Zaden is planning. But, for the past few days, my epsilons has noticed strange movements of unfamiliar werewolves. I think he's preparing something different this time. I don't know what it is. But, it can't be good," Darryl said and I clenched my fists.
"Alert the elite wolves. Keep your ears and eyes alert," I said.
"Yes, Alpha."
"Is there anything else?" I asked when I noticed the hesitation in his voice.
"Last night, while I joined the patrol wolves to keep watch, I perceived the stench of a vampire."
"What?" I said through gritted teeth.
A vampire?
Would Zaden go that far?
"That's not all. Hera said she could feel a strange magic in the air. She confirmed that it wasn't the magic of a witch."
