Kaley stood under the scorching sun with a thermal lunchbox, her face burned red. She couldn't hide the joy in her eyes when she saw Brett coming out of the building.
"Brett, I made some soup for you and Izabella. There's also your favorite dish inside."
Brett looked her up and down, before finally resting his gaze on the lunchbox she's carrying, which seemed pretty heavy.
He reached out to take it, saying, "you don’t need to deliver it by yourself next time."
"I was worried you wouldn't like takeout food."
He'd been eating Izabella's cooking for a while and got spoiled by it. Takeout no longer suited his taste. However, he couldn't afford to be picky now. Plus, Kaley's cooking skills weren't much better than takeout. If she tried to cook for him, she'd only be wasting her time.
"Do you want to come in?"
Looking at the sweat on Kaley's forehead, Brett asked. Kaley smiled, "I'd rather not. Izabella might not want to see me."
Brett simply nodded, he didn’t insist on inviting her, "You'd better go home early then. I have to go too."
As he was about to leave, Kaley called out to him, "Brett, is Izabella getting better? I saw some comments online."
Thinking of the comments, Brett's face darkened, "She'll be fine. And she'll be discharged soon."
"That's good. Call me if you need anything."
Brett replied indifferently, "No need, Liam will handle it."
Kaley sighed, she had expected this cold attitude from him but couldn't help feeling sad. She only smiled and said, "Ok."
She turned to leave without lingering. Brett had already built walls around him, and being clingy would only make him more annoyed. Kaley knew she should just be obedient and agreeable.
As for Izabella, Kaley assumed the crazy online rumors were fake, but judging by Brett's expression today, she guessed Izabella might have indeed lost it.
Kaley's face hardened, hoping Izabella would be crazy for the rest of her life.
Izabella stood in Kaley's way, and Kaley would never forgive her. She had to eliminate this unpredictable factor to secure her position by Brett's side.
Now she had given up on getting Brett’s love. She’s not dumb, and she didn't want to end up like Izabella, clinging to something unattainable, and losing everything eventually.
