After reading the news about Brett and Izabella online, Kaley had a fit of rage at home. She smashed all the lamps and decorations on the cabinet to the ground and even slapped Trista.
Her eyes were red, her carefully applied makeup was ruined by tears, smearing her face into a mess. Her hair was disheveled, making her look like a psycho.
"Ms. Cornett," Trista covered her face, her eyes filled with fear. She never imagined that someone who was usually so calm could become so irritable and even hit her.
"Get out!" Kaley hoarsely shouted.
After Trista left in annoyance, Kaley collapsed on the ground, picking up her phone from the floor. The news headlines all read "Brett and Izabella's Romance."
If they were in love, what did that make her?
It was her who met Brett first, and she was the one who had been with him all along!
The praises for Brett's deep affection for Izabella felt like heavy thunderbolts striking Trista's heart, causing aching echoes that pierced her to the core.
She had to reevaluate the years she spent with Brett, and fragments of memories flashed through her mind.
Suddenly, her phone vibrated, bringing Kaley back to reality. Subconsciously hoping it was Brett calling to explain, she flipped over the phone and saw the number she least wanted to see.
—Nolan.
She clenched her phone tightly, struggling with her thoughts. As the ringtone was about to end, she answered the call.
A mocking voice immediately came from the other end, "I thought you wouldn't answer my call."
"What would you do if I didn't answer?"
Nolan paused and laughed, "Then I would keep calling again and again."
Kaley took a deep breath. "Are you threatening me?"
"Kaley, how could I threaten you when I love you so much? I miss you. Let's meet at our usual place."
Kaley remained silent, listening to the voice on the phone. "After four years, this hotel is still the same. Kaley, I want to see you at 6 o'clock tonight."
Kaley gritted her teeth and, after a long while, managed to squeeze out a word from her throat. "Fine."
*Nolan was satisfied and hung up the call.
Kaley tightly held her phone and stood up, going upstairs to change her clothes. She tidied up her makeup, but no matter how much she tried to conceal it, the redness in her eyes remained visible.
Kaley was furious at the thought of Izabella and Brett being so affectionate while she had to deal with Nolan, this disgusting man.
The huge difference distorted her expression even more. She tightly gripped the curling comb in her hand, the teeth of the comb digging into her palm, leaving dense imprints, but she couldn't feel the pain at all.
Izabella, I want you dead! Dead! Dead!
Trista was downstairs preparing dinner when she heard the commotion outside. She turned around and saw Kaley, with a sulky expression, carrying a bag as if she was about to leave.
"Ms. Cornett, are you going out again?"
"Yes, I won't be back tonight." Kaley put on her high heels and thought for a moment. "Remember to keep your mouth shut and don't let Brett know I'm going out."
Trista clearly felt the chill radiating from behind Kaley's sunglasses. She quickly nodded and watched as Kaley got into the car and left. Trista touched her still sore face and shook her head in disbelief.
Kaley arrived on time for the appointment. The "usual place" Nolan mentioned was where they used to meet four years ago.
