One night six years ago, Brett had an accident and fell into the water. He had a fatal weakness - he was born with a fear of water and couldn't swim.
That night, he thought he would die in the water until a blurry figure jumped into the water, pulling him up and saved him.
It was winter, and there was a thin layer of ice on the lake. His felt his body had been scraped by a knife, and it seemed like there were ice chips in his blood.
Thinking of what happened six years ago, Brett's expression was incredibly complex. Inside the room, only a table lamp was shining a soft orange light, illuminating every corner.
Tears streamed down Izabella's face unnoticed as she stiffly turned her back to Brett, not wanting him to see her face.
"When exactly six years ago?"
"Around midnight on December 25th, in N City," Brett replied, and her once blurry memories suddenly became clear.
Izabella's voice was hoarse, "Brett, why would you think it was Kaley who saved you back then?"
It was the first time that Izabella asked so many questions about an event. Brett answered, "I saw her when I woke up in the hospital, and Kaley said it was her who saved me."
"She said she saved you?" Izabella scoffed.
"Her words are one thing, but also her pearl earrings." That night in the water, he saw a pair of pearl earrings. He remembered reaching out and touching them. When he woke up from the hospital, Kaley's earrings were the same pearl earrings he saw in the water.
"Brett, have you ever thought that many people have pearl earrings like that? Have you ever thought that Kaley lied to you?" The tears in Izabella's eyes disappeared, leaving only mockery.
Brett's face changed. After hearing what Izabella said, his felt his heart had been grasped by something. He fiercely propped himself up and looked down at her side profile, "What do you mean?"
