Casey hadn't initiated a film project in a while. Whenever he did, he can bet it's going be a banger. Not only did he get a kick from working, but it also sent fans and audiences over the moon.
Seth was pondering on the road, wondering what team caught Casey's eye. Could it be that fantasy drama by Mr. Hackett he mentioned last time? But what he didn't expect. Seth looked at the printed script in his hand and froze.
"A horror movie?"
Casey nodded.
Seth overreacted, saying, "Holy cow, out of all the genres, you picked a horror movie? Are you nuts, or am I dreaming? Do you have any idea about the domestic film market? Horror movies don't draw a crowd. A couple of years ago, a 3D horror flick with a 200 million investment bombed and was ridiculed by audiences. I thought you valued the reputation of your work; why would you pick this?"
Casey, known for his bad temper, was a tough guy to deal with. The only time he ever let his guard down was around Izabella.
Normally, if Seth blabbered that much, he would've walked away. But today, he listened patiently, even with a smile on his face.
"The script is great."
Seth flipped through the script; it was indeed intriguing. He muttered, "I'll look into this team. Aren't they comedy filmmakers? You want them to do a horror movie?"
"Yeah, they're a fit." Casey's tone was identical to Izabella's last night.
"But this team used to do skits. Their recent three films didn't do so well. How did you end up choosing them? Am I still dreaming, or are you? At least Hackett has some work to his name and pays you well. I can't fathom why you'd go for this nearly bankrupt team. They probably can't even afford a tenth of your fee."
"I'm investing; no fee is needed."
"You're investing?" Seth was more confused about what Casey was thinking. He had a hunch that Casey was keeping something from him.
Seth asked in a low voice, "Are you hiding something from me?" He had a strong sixth sense, and by looking at Casey's twitching ears, he knew this had something to do with Izabella.
The more smug Casey felt, the faster his ears moved. This habit of his never changed! And who else could make him feel so smug other than Izabella?
"The female lead of this script is Izabella, right? She's playing your wife?"
Upon hearing this, Casey's ears not only twitched but also turned red, like ripe fruit in the mountains, spreading warmth to his cheeks.
"Yeah, she's playing my wife."
No wonder Casey was funding it himself. Seth had many thoughts recently. He used to look down on Izabella, as her reputation wasn't the best. From any standpoint, she wasn't a match for Casey. Plus, Casey was just starting out, and he was worried that Izabella would affect his career.
But after watching the first episode of her reality show, Seth changed his mind. As an insider, he had a fair understanding of the complex affairs of the entertainment industry.
Seth asked cautiously, "Are you dating Izabella?"
"Not yet."
Just as Seth sighed in relief, he saw Casey's smug face. "But it's going to happen soon. Seth, you were right. She's had a crush on me from the very beginning."
Casey went on, "Every night, we chat, and before bed, she sends me a goodnight message."
