Brett's eyes were ice-cold. He reached out and pinched Izabella's chin. "Izabella, do you always act all innocent in front of me and then use your dirty tricks behind my back?"

"It's not me who's using dirty tricks; it's Kaley! She fell down the stairs by herself to frame me!"

"You're trying to talk your way out of this?"

Brett clamped down on Izabella's chin, tightening his grip bit by bit, as if trying to crush her jaw. Izabella was forced to open her mouth, her face twisted in pain.

She was filled with anger, as well as a sense of injustice. Why didn't Brett ever believe her?

"Twice now." Brett stared at Izabella with hawk-like eyes, speaking in a deep voice. "First, you slapped Kaley, and now you've pushed her down the stairs. Seems like locking you out on the balcony last time wasn't enough as a punishment. You haven't learned your lesson!"

So, what was Brett going to do this time? Izabella was pretty scared.

Before, she had always been submissive to Brett, enduring everything he did, allowing him to believe she was naturally compliant. But, as a result, he continually insulted her!

Izabella smiled sadly. "Then tell me, what's my motive? Why would I push her?"

Brett was momentarily stunned, having never given much thought to that question. Was Izabella's motive jealousy towards Kaley? He stared at Izabella's face, trying to find the answer through her expression, but then she suddenly burst out laughing.

Tears streamed down her cheeks, forced out by the pain in her jaw, wetting Brett's hand.
