Revenge of the Hideous Lady (Xyla Quest) novel Chapter 1838

“She’s my ex-girlfriend,” King replied, shrugging helplessly.

“She probably still has feelings for me and probably why she keeps coming back to bug me,” he added.

Xyla Quest chuckled. “I see.”

“She’s the daughter of a wealthy businessman from Country M,” King explained further.

“It seems she comes from a decent family. She looks quite good too. Why did you break up with her?” Xyla asked.

“She…” King hesitated again.

Xyla chuckled again. “It’s fine if you don’t want to say it.”

It was none of her business, anyway.

“It’s not that I don’t want to say it. There isn’t anything I’d keep from you. But honestly, it’s rather embarrassing. She’s physically abusive,” King stated.

Xyla was shocked to hear this.

Physical abuse?

Xyla found it hard to imagine a man of King's stature, over six feet tall, being physically abused by a much shorter woman.

She really couldn’t picture it.

“Why?” Xyla asked incredulously.

King scratched his head. “Why else? She has violent tendencies. I’d get hit if I’m not careful, and I don’t want to hit her back because I love her. Besides, she’s a woman, and I’m a man. How could I hit a woman?

“However, I have mulled things over after a while. As much as I love her, I can’t accept a physically abusive partner,” he added.

“Yes, you did the right thing. You should not tolerate physically abusive partners. If it happened once, it could happen for the rest of your life,” Xyla responded.

“Yes.”

Sophie Kenwick silently listened without interrupting.
