Tiffany didn't know what to say. She couldn't help but think that Alex was weird. Even his reasoning was stretching it.
Still, she couldn't turn him down since he was so earnest in giving the gift to her. "I'll accept it, then. Thanks, Mr. Zander," she said as she took it from him.
Alex sighed in relief. "You're welcome. You should head upstairs first. I have something else to do."
"Okay." Tiffany nodded and headed to the elevator.
As soon as she turned the corner, Alex headed back to the car. The window rolled down to reveal Vincent's face.
"I've given Tiffany the gift per your instructions, sir," Alex said. "But… why didn't you give it to her yourself?"
He couldn't understand it. Wouldn't it be a waste of Vincent's time and effort to give Tiffany something so expensive under Alex's name?
Vincent frowned. "I was worried she wouldn't accept it."
Alex was taken aback. Countless people would've killed to get a gift from Vincent. Yet here he was, worried Tiffany wouldn't accept it.
He'd never seen Vincent so unsure of himself. It looked like Tiffany really was special to him.
"Let's go," Vincent said. Alex got into the car and drove off.
None of them noticed Tiffany standing just behind the corner with the skincare set in her hands. She hadn't left; she'd been hiding there the whole time. That meant she'd heard Vincent and Alex's conversation.
She knew something was off—Alex was just a CEO's assistant. Which business partner would be generous enough to gift a skincare set worth 50 thousand dollars to an assistant?
Everything made sense if Vincent was the one behind the gift, though. She bit her lip as she thought about how he'd said he was worried she wouldn't accept the gift.
