Tiffany knew Eric too well. If William hadn't told him who he was or promised him certain benefits, he wouldn't have worked with William to use Teresa to force her into acquiescence.

"Your sister's been worried about you since you moved out, Tiff. I kept this from her because I wanted to surprise her. I thought you'd appreciate being able to tell her the truth in person when we're all together," Eric said.

Tiffany gnashed her teeth. "Fine. You guys head over. I'll be right there."

He put his phone away when he saw the door open and straightened up. Taking in Tiffany's appearance, he asked, "Why didn't you wear the outfit I prepared?"

She returned the bag to him. "I don't like it. Take it back."

William frowned but still took the bag from her. She walked a few steps away from him, then turned to say, "Aren't we supposed to head to your house?"

They got into the car. William reached for Tiffany's hand. She avoided his touch.

Then, she secretly called Brianna. At the same time, she asked William, "Are you sure you want to bring me to meet your parents, William?"

"Yes," he said firmly. "Don't you remember our promise from back then, Tiff? We were gonna get married after we graduated. Graduation is in a month, so this is the perfect time to meet my parents and get everything settled.

"First, we need to have an engagement ceremony—we can have that in a month. After that, we can get married. It's a bit of a rush, but you can rest assured that I'll make sure everything's arranged perfectly. I won't let any part of our wedding disappoint you."

Tiffany looked straight ahead. "Are you that confident I'll marry you?"

"You will." William tightened his grip on the wheel. After a pause, he added, "I have my ways to make you willingly and happily marry me."

Tiffany's heart sank at his words. She turned to look at him. "Did you tell Eric about this?"
