Theo suddenly felt the weight in his arms lighten, and Roanne's head tilted limply to one side.
Theo was frozen in shock as though he had been struck by lightning. He lowered his head to stare at Roanne in horror. "Roanne?
"She’s dead," a cold female voice rang out from the direction of the door, though it was graced with elegance and intellect.
That voice...
Theo lifted his head in surprise and immediately caught sight of Rachel standing at the door.
She was dressed in a light green shirt and white trousers that made her look smart, successful, and elegant.
When she saw Theo looking at her, she took out her phone to contact the hospital staff and walked slowly over to him.
As soon as Theo saw her, all the longing and adoration he had for her in the past dissipated and was replaced by worry toward Roanne.
He immediately lunged forward to grab Rachel's arm. "You must have some way of saving her, right? She just suffered a few knife wounds in her abdomen; how could she have died just like that?
"Rachel, I know you must have some way of saving her!"
Rachel's expression darkened when she saw the crazed look in Theo's eyes.
A split second later, she regained her composure and said, "I'm just a doctor, not
God himself.
