Harvey's entire body froze when he heard Jim's words. He glanced first at Jim, then at Bonnie, his gaze filled with doubt. "Are... are you joking, Daddy?”
Even though he was still a child, he was already six years old, so he understood many things going on around him, especially among the adults.
Therefore, he knew fully well that even though Jim had broken off his engagement with Charlotte, it did not mean he would get back together with Bonnie immediately. Harvey understood that there would be many challenges and hurdles before his father and mother would get together.
This was why he had told Jim to work harder to win his wife's heart back, but all of a sudden... Jim declared that he and Bonnie would get married in a week.
According to his tone and expression, he did not sound like he was joking.
Besides, whether it was before or after losing his memories, Jim had never been one to joke about something as sacred as marriage.
As soon as he thought of this, Harvey pursed his lips and shot Jim a tentative glance, waiting for his reply.
Jim curled his lips into a smile, gently stroked Harvey's head, and then explained, "Of course I'm not joking. Your grandfather and grandmother have already discussed this with Bonnie yesterday, and after a night of thinking, I agree with them that I should marry her."
Maybe Number-9 had already forgotten about what happened in the past.
Maybe she had already started a new life and had taken another lover.
Even though Jim was still determined to find Number-9, he could not help thinking that perhaps they were never meant to be after all.
After all, she had lost the necklace that he left for her, and even if he managed to get his hands on the orphanage name list, without the necklace, he could not figure out which of the girls was the real Number-9.
Since he and his first love were not meant to be, he thought that he might as well fulfill his parents' wishes and marry Bonnie instead.
Everyone in his family loved her, and on top of that, she was Harvey's birth mother, too.
Not only that, but she had gotten an abortion because of him =b'
