Luke glanced at the name on the screen, then gestured for Dr. Zachary to go ahead while shuffling to one side to pick up the call. "Why are you calling me at this time?"
"How're you doing?" asked Joshua in a low voice as soon as the call connected.
Luke curled his lips into a small smile. " Bonnie got into a car accident, and your mother-in-law passed out. Shouldn't you be taking care of them now?
"Or perhaps, you should be asking how Gwen is doing, not me."
Joshua sighed and replied, "Bonnie has Jim, Rosalyn has Charles, and even Luna is busy taking care of the two of them. Gwen... has you, but who do you have?"
Joshua's voice was calm as he added, "Who else is asking you how you’re doing, if not me?"
There was a hint of helplessness in Joshua's voice. "Are you donating blood to her again?"
Luke lifted his head to glance at Gwen through the glass, who was receiving a blood transfusion, and chuckled. "There doesn't seem to be a better way. Her condition is deteriorating...and I don't have much time left either."
The usual tone of coldness and arrogance in his voice had disappeared and was, at this moment, had softened in vulnerability instead.
