"No, our equipment is all satellite-based. There can't be no signal inside, otherwise, how would they communicate with the outside?" Felix pondered for a moment. "If by any chance there really is no signal, according to the original plan, you lead the team in half an hour later. We'll go in and explore the place."
"Alright, that's settled," Mr. Ball nodded.
Before leaving, Mr. Ball reminded Felix, "No matter what happens, don't act impulsively. Think about the entire Saunders family. If you encounter danger inside, it's better to find a place to hide and wait for us to come in."
"Got it," Felix replied impatiently.
Following that, Felix and Wu Hao sneaked into the place from where the two men in black had emerged earlier.
They descended along the narrow stairs and entered the interior of the semi-basement. Once inside, they discovered a hidden world that was much larger than they had imagined. There was a corridor that led to an endless abyss, as well as several forks whose destinations were unknown.
The terrain was intricate and complex, and although it was a dark corner, it was well-maintained with no musty smell. The fresh air system was on 24/7. The floor was covered with European-style antique tiles, and the walls were uneven with siliceous mud. The furniture and decorations all exuded a dark atmosphere.
Felix understood it all too well-Cloud was indeed cunning. No wonder this place had become their stronghold. It was truly a good location.
Felix and Wu Hao exchanged glances and quietly proceeded, preparing to investigate separately.
As they walked deeper, another man in black suddenly appeared. He, too, wore a head covering that only revealed his eyes.
The man complained upon seeing them, "Why did you take so long? The boss is waiting for the meeting, what are you standing around for? Hurry up!"
Felix knew that the men in black recognized them by the numbers on their clothes.
At this moment, Felix and Wu Hao dared not speak, fearing they would give themselves away, so they nodded in agreement. A meeting? Where were they going to have the meeting? What if they went in the wrong direction and were discovered? Felix made up his mind. When in doubt, rely on guesswork. He headed straight for the end of the corridor.
But then, the man in black stopped them.
"Wait."
Felix halted his steps, feeling a sudden shock. Damn it, did they go the wrong way? Or did they reveal a flaw?
Meanwhile, Wu Hao discreetly placed his hands behind his back, fully alert and ready to fight at any moment.
Unexpectedly, the man in black said, "Why are both of you going? The boss doesn't like too many people. One of you is enough."
Felix felt relieved, realizing he had guessed correctly.
He signaled to Wu Hao with his eyes, indicating for him to secretly investigate while Felix attended the meeting. He wanted to hear what Cloud's next move would be.
Wu Hao understood and placed his hand by his side, making a discreet OK gesture.
