Bella could see Charlie standing on the lawn through the window.
"His indifference sobered me up completely. When he took my mother to the hospital, I thought he would stay in the hospital with me. I panicked at the thought of my mother covered in blood."
"However, he told me that he did it out of kindness and that he would not stay there with me, after all, he was neither my boyfriend nor my husband. He also said that even if I fainted in the hospital because of fear, it had nothing to do with him. I tried in vain to beg him to stay..."
"I had figured these things out..." Bella added, "You may not know about my family. My parents have many brothers and sisters, but we have an uneasy relationship with those relatives. They look down on us because our family is poor."
"My parents would be ridiculed when they went to borrow money from those relatives. My mother often cried and told me that I had to win honor for our family and then astonish those who looked down on us."
Grace had never experienced this. Although she grew up in a single-parent family, she never worried about money.
"Every girl believed that she was different when she was young and had fantasies about her future husband. I was no exception. I firmly believed that the man who would marry me must be a prince charming of noble birth, with perfect height, handsome appearance, and good cultivation." "I fell in love with Mr. Morgan when he helped me out over and over again at the nightclub. Frankly, he fulfilled all my fantasies about a husband."
"My mother was very fond of him too and used to show off her 'future son-in-law' to relatives with photos of Mr. Morgan. They were shocked and became friendly to my mother, and I felt so proud..."
Bella managed a sad smile, "In such fantasy and pride, I became more and more infatuated with him, unable to extricate myself, and even went insane."
Grace raised her eyebrows without saying a word. Eaton became hungry, crying for food. Then, Grace unbuttoned her clothes and started feeding him as if Bella wasn't there.
"Maybe I was too young to resist those temptations. All in all, I’m not here to defend Mr. Morgan but to apologize for what I’ve done. I'm really sorry, Ms. Livingston. Well, time’s up. I have booked a flight to Santabaca, bye."
Bella thought, Mom was right. If I kill Grace, I’ll get nothing but jail!"
Bella's mother was old, and her legs had some problems. The family would be destroyed if she went insane. Even for her mother, she had to sober up.
How could she let her mother die in front of her?
