"How can I persuade you to trust me, Grace? I'm not putting you on. Is it only when I kneel that you can forgive me?"
Grace ignored him and watered the plants instead.
Out of the corner of her eye, Grace noticed Charlie kneeling. "Men do not bend their knees easily. The more they do it, the cheaper they look," Grace showed no emotion and said coldly.
Charlie went rigid and said bitterly, "I don't care that! If you can forgive me, I can kneel for a month!"
Grace said icily, "Listen, it's no use for you to kneel here. Go away and do not come
here again! I will not trust you anymore."
"I swear I won’t make the same mistake again, Grace!"
"Come on, I’m not a little girl! Do you expect me to believe that? When a man pursues a woman, he can say lots of sweet words, even willing to give his life. But as long as he has his eyes on another woman, he will forget his promises. You once said that you couldn't live without me. But you lived well after you fell in love with another woman, didn’t you?"
Charlie hastened to explain, "No, no! I didn't fall in love with her. I love you only, Grace. At that time, I was so confused that I lost myself for a while to relax. My brain just misted over for a moment."
Grace shrugged, said nothing, and continued to water the plants.
She sprayed the flowering shrubs in front of Charlie with the hose, and his suit pants got wet.
But he remained on his knees and did not move.
Grace took a look at him and let him be. After watering the plants, she returned to the villa and left him kneeling outside.
Charlie then realized that it would be a long -term task, and he had to make some preparations.
