On grandpa's birthday, a lot of people who have high status in Peking City came.
I became busy with my mother-in-law early in the morning. I would do whatever chores she asked me to do.
"Wait a minute, your relatives would sit there. Watch them carefully and don't disturb the guests." When it was near noon, my mother-in-law pointed to a small round table on the left side of the hall and ordered me.
Was mother-in-law worried that my relatives would bring shame to the Xis? So she arranged for them to stay in a sparsely populated room on purpose.
I pursed my lips and nodded faintly.
"Take good care of the guests. Don't look like a victim every day, as if our family has treated you badly." My mother-in-law was very dissatisfied with my expression today and said unhappily to me.
I rubbed my stiff face and nodded desperately.
My mother-in-law went to greet those rich ladies. I stood at the gate and smiled at every guest who came in.
Until Edward Xi and Betty Fang came in together, I was like frozen for a moment. I remembered the scene of that night. I was close to Edward on the rooftop and he kissed all over my body with his lips. He even asked me to not leave him. It was so clear but so far away.
"Mrs. Xi, aren’t you gonna welcome me?" Betty came to me and couldn't help laughing at me when she saw me in a daze.
I knew what she meant. So I restrained my emotions and said coldly, "Even if I don't welcome you, you're here already."
Betty glanced at me and slightly raised her chin. I didn't know whether she was intentional or not, she held the arm of Edward next to her and said coquettishly, "Edward, I want to eat the cake."
"Ok." Edward nodded in a deep voice and entered the room with Betty in his arms. But when he walked past me, he suddenly stopped.
I was puzzled, but before I could raise my head, Betty's confused voice came from the top of my head. "Edward, what's wrong with you?"
"You didn't comb your hair well." Just as my heart was beating like thunder, Edward's slender fingers stopped my hair from falling behind my head.
After the slightly cool temperature of his fingers left,
I looked up in a trance and looked at the cold and overbearing back of him in a daze with a vacant stare.
At 12:30 pm. When we had lunch, Gramps Xi was very happy. Edward and I had to pretend to be a couple in front of others. Especially, in front of Gramps Xi.
Edward walked up to me and stared at me with a serious look. I stood up at a loss. When he signaled for me to hold his arm, I went forward to propose a toast to grandpa with him. Gramps Xi drank a little today, he took my hand and said, "Ashley Mu, you are a good child. You must give birth to a great-grandson for me this year, OK?"
I tilted my head to look at Edward and saw that he was expressionless. I felt sad, but my face was full of shyness. "Okay."
"Good girl." Gramps Xi's physical strength was limited, so he soon became tired. We didn't dare to bother him, so we asked someone to send him upstairs to have a rest.
"Let's go to the next table." When I was still staring at the back of grandpa, Edward had already led me to the next table.
I looked at my hands and Edward's. I couldn't help but say yes.
Even if it was only a few seconds, it was very rare for me. This kind of thing would never happen again.
"Gosh... My ring is missing." Just then, a noblewoman suddenly screamed.
Her voice was so loud that it attracted everyone's attention.
Edward and I are no exception.
