A Vengeful Bride novel Chapter 39

Edward stared at me with fierce eyes for a long time, then looked at William coldly and finally turned away.

Seeing Edward leaving, I let out a sigh of relief. But when I saw the lonely lunch box on the ground, I felt inexplicably uncomfortable.

"If you want to drink the soup Edward gave you, I won't be upset." William bent down to pick up the lunch box on the ground and said to me thoughtfully.

The more considerate William was, the more I felt sorry for him.

I had made up my mind that I would not love Edward any more. How could I feel sorry for him because he cooked soup for me?

I clenched my fist, looked up at William, and said, "William, you make soup for me again. I won't drink the soup made by Edward. Who knows what he is thinking about?"

Obviously, Edward loved Betty so much that he couldn't bear to let her suffer. Now, he flattered me. What on earth did he want?

Did he think it's funny to tease me?

I stayed in the hospital for a week. To ensure my safety, William asked me to remain in the hospital under observation for a few days.

Since I threw the soup of Edward to the ground, he has never appeared in front of me again.

I thought that Edward must be tired of playing this kind of game.

I didn't know how to describe my current mood, maybe a little disappointed, maybe... a little glad.

When I was discharged from the hospital, William came to pick me up.

I sat in the car. When I left, I saw Edward standing at the side entrance of the hospital, looking at me with sad eyes.

I was startled and rubbed my eyes to see it clearly, but there was no one there.

I thought maybe I was too tired and made a mistake.

How could it be possible for Edward to show such a sad expression as if he had been abandoned?

"When you back home, you should have a good sleep, okay?" William did not pay attention to my expression, and turned back and said gently to me.

I came to my senses and nodded gently at William.

I needed to take a good rest. After all, I was preparing for the competition.

"Although the competition is important, your health is more important. This kind of thing can't happen again in the future. Have you heard what the doctor said?" William said to me with a serious face.

I touched my belly, still feeling a little scared.

At the thought of the child almost dying, this fear was going to devour me. "I know, it won't happen again." I hugged my belly and said firmly to William.

After a long time, William and I didn't talk anymore. There was a faint sound of music in the car.

When I was sleepy, William said again, "You were carried to the hospital by Edward? Didn't you take a bath at that time? Why did Edward appear in such a timely way?"

William's words made me shiver and my dizzy brain suddenly became clear.

I licked my lips, looked at William's handsome side face uneasily, and said, "That... because... there is no room in the hotel. Edward and I are arranged to stay in the same room. It's a standard room."

"Nothing happened between me and Edward. I was taking a bath at that time, and I didn't know...suddenly bleeding, and then... I crawled out of the bathroom and asked for help from Edward. William, believe me, I and Edward..."

I was worried that William would look down on me and tried to explain.

But William only looked at me for a long time. Then he smiled and teased, "Why are you so nervous? I didn't say I didn't trust you. I believe you."

Hearing what William said, I could not help but let out a sigh of relief.

"Later, I'll ask the hotel to arrange a new room for you."

"Is there no room?" I looked at William in a daze and said.

It would be great if it could be rearranged. Living in the same room with Edward was really a challenge to my heart.

"I have a way.1' William smiled mysteriously at me, with a little coldness in his smile.

Seeing William suddenly become indifferent, I couldn't help thinking of the conversation between William and Edward on the roof of the hospital.

What was the animosity between Edward and William?

"William, do you... have any grudge against Edward?"

After hesitating for a long time, I still wanted to ask William this question.

William gently knocked on the steering wheel and did not look back, nor did he answer me.

"Can't you say it?" I couldn't help but smile when I saw that William seemed unwilling to say it.

William turned around and looked at me. He said slowly, "There's a grudge between us. My company is on par with Xi's Group and Edward."

"Just... this grievance?" I looked blankly at William and said.

William smiled and looked at me meaningfully, saying, "Otherwise, what else do you think between us?"

Hearing William's question, I scratched the back of my head and said nothing.

I always felt that William was hiding something. Was it my illusion?

With doubts, I arrived at the hotel. As expected, William had a good way to get someone in the hotel to book another room for me.
