A Vengeful Bride novel Chapter 63

"I'm going to be engaged to Betty soon, Ashley." Edward suddenly let go of me, tied up his clothes, and said to me in a deep voice.

After I heard it, I smiled brightly and said, "I know, someone has already told me about it."

"Don't smile." Edward reached out his hand and pinched my chin. His handsome face looked angry.

I was shocked by his serious words. I looked at his tea- colored pupils and said indifferently, "I know you're going to marry Betty soon, but I don't mind. We can still have sex, or...kiss each other. Edward, do you want to say that after marrying Betty, you will keep yourself as pure as jade?"

"Let's not see each other again from today on." His eyes turned cold as he pushed me away, then he tidied up his collar and said to me.

Hearing his words, I laughed in a low voice. I stretched out my hand and touched his face. In a hoarse voice, I said, "Is that so? Don't you want to see me again? Edward, are you really going to keep your integrity for Betty?"

"That's enough, Ashley, you look like a stranger." Edward pushed my hand away and walked towards the door.

I looked at his back and couldn't help but clench my fists.

Edward turned around at the door and said indifferently to me, "Ashley, this isn't you."

After saying this, he left.

I looked at his back, covered my face with my hands, and slowly sat on the ground.

This was not me? Then, what kind of person was I? I didn't know.

I had long forgotten what kind of person I was. From the moment my child died, I was no longer Ashley.

After Edward said those words, he didn't appear in front of me. Similarly, I wouldn't take the initiative to find him.

I still worked as William's secretary. After work, we would go shopping and have dinner together.

Everyone in the company thought that William was my boyfriend.

I didn't explain deliberately, nor did William. We had a tacit understanding.

"Ashley, I've reserved a Japanese restaurant. Let's eat there later." After work at noon, William came in and said to me.

After I packed up my things, I left with him.

When we arrived at the Japanese restaurant, we met Betty and Scott when we were about to go in.

When Scott saw me, she was surprised and said, "Miss Mu, what a coincidence. I didn't expect you to come here for lunch, too."

"Yes." I had a good impression of Scott. Although Betty was mean, it was undeniable that her mother was a very gentle person.

Scott gave me a gentle look and invited me to eat with Betty.

Although Betty didn't say anything, I could feel her unhappy eyes.

During the lunch, William and I rarely talked. Scott sometimes spoke some words, and we only responded to her.

Scott was indeed from a rich and powerful family. Her every move was graceful.

"Miss Mu, it will be the engagement of Betty and Edward in a few days. I wonder if you're willing to come that day."

I looked up and glanced at Scott. Beside her, Betty, who had been silent since she came in, suddenly raised her chin and said to me with a proud face.

"Yes, Ashley, I'm going to engage with Edward. You should come over and congratulate us."

I looked at the smug smile on Betty's face and said with a cold smile, "Of course, since it's your engagement with Edward, how can I not be there?"

"After all, I'm his ex-wife, aren't I?"

After that, I gave Betty a meaningful look. Betty's face was slightly stiff and she glared at me fiercely. But she dared not say anything because Scott was there.

"Since you're willing to come, I certainly welcome you." Scott did not sense the strange atmosphere between Betty and me. Instead, she smiled at me very gently. Sometimes, I really envied Betty for having such a gentle mother, but Betty's character... was really not like Scott at all.

"Okay, I hope so." I glanced at Betty and said with a smile.

After taking a few bites, feeling Betty's fierce eyes, I had no appetite. I picked up a napkin and wiped the corners of my mouth, and said to them, "I'm sorry, I'll go to the bathroom."

William just glanced at me and said nothing.

I got up and went straight to the bathroom.

After I peed, I heard someone coming into the bathroom.

Even if I didn't open the door, I knew who came in.
