A Vengeful Bride novel Chapter 75

I asked Paul to get me a bowl of millet gruel. Half-eaten, an unexpected person appeared in my ward.

"Are you surprised to see me?" Scott looked at me gracefully and smiled.

I looked at the warm smile on Scott's face. I lowered my head and said lightly, "How come? I'm just surprised that you would come here to see me."

"I heard that you were hospitalized, so I came over to see you. It was said that you killed Gramps Xi, so I was a little worried, but I didn't have time to see you."

"Are you coming to see me for your daughter?" I looked at Scott and didn't want to beat around the bush.

Scott took a deep look at me and said, "I... I just came here to see you."

She pulled out a chair, sat beside my bed, reached out her hand to hold my hand.

Her hands were very warm. This kind of warm touch made my heart warm.

I pursed my lips and looked at her without saying a word.

Scott touched my messy hair tenderly, and then she looked at my neck.

"Did Edward sleep here last night?"

It seemed that she already knew what happened last night? Was it Betty who told her?

I didn't refuse, which meant that I acquiesced. I wanted to see what Scott would say to me.

However, she just glanced at me with very kind eyes and did not blame me.

"After all, it was Betty's fault that she ruined your marriage with Edward. I didn't mean to blame you."

"It was not her fault. In the past, Edward didn't love me at all."

I interrupted Scott and said to her.

Edward didn't love me at the beginning. He married me just because grandpa asked him to do that. He and Betty were in love. I was the one who ruined their love.

"May I call you Ashley?" Scott looked at me and asked softly.

I hesitated for a moment and nodded.

Scott held my hand and sighed, "There is no way to control love. Betty has always been spoiled by us. At that time, she was almost stolen by others, so we blindly love her. I hope you don't blame her and don't hate her."

"If she didn't take the initiative to provoke me, I wouldn't make trouble for her. But she wants me to die, I won't let go of her." I told Scott my position directly.

Betty had already provoked me, so I wouldn't let go of her so easily. This was my position.

Scott's face fell. I thought that she would scold me harshly, but she just looked at the wound on my chest and asked with pity, "Does it hurt?"

I shook my head. Perhaps I was infected by the tenderness in her eyes. I pursed my lips and said, "No."

It didn't hurt for a long time. When the bullet hit in, I didn't react at all. I only felt a sharp pain and then I lost consciousness.

There were tears in Scott's eyes. She stepped forward and gently hugged me.

I was scared by her action. I didn't expect that she would suddenly hug me.

"Ashley, don't be afraid." Scott's gentle voice sounded in my ear. The feeling was very warm, just like... the feeling in my mother's belly.

It made me inexplicably happy and even trembling.

"It will be my birthday in a few days. I want to invite you to attend my birthday party, okay?" Scott looked at me and said softly.

When I heard this, I looked at her who seemed to have forgotten herself in a daze.

Logically speaking, if she were an ordinary person, she should hate me for taking away her daughter's husband. However, her words puzzled me.

Why didn't she accuse me of seducing Edward? Why didn't she accuse me of making Betty sad?

"You must be very confused. Why do I treat you like this? You made Betty so sad and took away Edward. I should pull your hair and scold you, right?" Scott said with gentle eyes, as if she had seen through my mind. Hearing her words, I lowered my eyelids and nodded dully.

That was what I thought, because I didn't know why didn't she scold me, or blame me for taking away her daughter's fiance.

"I don't know, Ashley." Scott looked at me with some melancholy in her eyes.

"I don't know why I'm like this. I liked you very much the first time I saw you. Maybe we are fated. No matter what you do, I will forgive you and I won't be angry."

Scott touched my hair lovingly and said.

Her words made me feel somewhat complicated. I looked at her without saying a word.

Her eyes were still so warm, just like... the feeling of a mother.

"Have a good rest. I'll go first. I'll send you an invitation card on my birthday."
