A Vengeful Bride novel Chapter 86

I thought that William would definitely be angry, but he just silently put on all his clothes and gave me my clothes on the ground. He said in a low voice, "I will wait for you, Ashley."

William's words made me very guilty. I was always indecisive, but he was still waiting for me with no regrets.

I smiled bitterly and nodded slightly. Then I held my clothes and walked into my room.

I went out of the bathroom, wrapped myself in a bath towel, looked at the heavy rain outside the window, and lost in meditation.

I spent a long time on Edward from divorce to revenge. I fell in love with him again, and I couldn't get him out of my mind.

Edward was a man that I couldn't be with for my whole life. If I wanted to forget him, I could only...

Forget everything about him, although the process would be so painful.

The next day, I had a serious illness. I had a high fever of 40 degrees.

William had been with me all the time. He didn't even go to the company. At three o'clock in the afternoon, I opened my eyes after the fever had gone down. I saw William who was tired.

He stretched out his hand, hugged me, and gently pacified, "Ashley, you made me so worried."

"I'm sorry..." I reached out my hands and held his body feebly. Then I said in a hoarse voice.

He reached out his hand and touched my eyes gently. He said with concern, "I really want to give you a lesson, you're a bad girl."

I stuck out my tongue and said in a hoarse voice, "I'm hungry."

"I'll cook for you right away. What do you want to eat?"

"Congee with Minced Pork and Preserved Egg."

"Okay." William kissed on my forehead, let go of me, and left.

Lying on the bed, I picked up the remote control and turned on the TV. It turned out that the TV was broadcasting the press conference of Edward.

Edward seemed to be ill. His face was pale. As he spoke, he kept coughing.

He was wearing a dark blue suit. His face was thin, but his eyes were still cold.

In the face of the tricky questions of reporters, the deterrent force on his body did not diminish at all because of the bankruptcy of the Xi's Group.

One of the reporters asked, "I heard that the person who caused the bankruptcy of the Xi's Group was your ex-wife, Ashley. What do you want to say about this?"

"My ex-wife has never done such a thing. Xi's Group went bankrupt because I am self-willed." Edward looked at the reporter indifferently. Looking at the camera, he said with a cold face.

The reporter seemed to be unwilling to give up and asked again, "According to the news online after you divorced your ex- wife, you seemed to have fallen in love again. Someone has seen that you went to the hotel to get a room several times. Is this true?"

"There’s no way to tell." Edward's face immediately turned cold, refusing to answer this question.

Looking at his cold look, my lips slightly twitched and I directly turned over.

We were over.

No matter it was hatred or something else, it was over.

"Edward has officially become the president of the Fang's Group." I didn't know how long William had been standing at the door. When he came in, he put the congee in front of me and said to me with a deep gaze.

Hearing his words, I looked blankly at him then lowered my head, "Is that so? It seems that he and Betty are going to get married soon."

The Fang's Group was on par with the Xi's Group. Since the chairman of the Fang's Group had given the whole Fang's Group to Edward, it could be seen that Betty's father valued Edward very much.

"According to the news I received, Edward is indeed going to marry Betty very soon. Ashley, love is not as important as career Edward is a man with a strong ambition. His ambition is stronger than you think." William said this as if telling me that love was simply trivial in front of career and power. "I’m a little tired." After taking a sip of the congee, I whispered to William.

It was like that there were two little men fighting in my mind, which made me have an appalling headache. I didn't want to see or listen to any news. All I wanted was to have a good rest.

"Okay, have a good rest. I'm downstairs. If you need anything, just call me." William took a deep look at me, put down the bowl in his hand, and left my room.

Looking at his back as he left, I smiled bitterly and grabbed the quilt tightly.

The next day, I was still ill, but fortunately, my fever had gone down. William told me it was Scott's birthday that day, and he was also invited.

William's social status had risen several times. Many people wanted to invite him and flatter him.

Although I was not very clear about the business, I knew that many people would be very nice to him but not sincere because of the benefits.

Then I received a call from Scott who said that she wanted me to attend her birthday party.
