After Divorcing my Captain Husband (Chloe and Michael) novel Chapter 531

"Smith mentioned earlier that he'd be quite busy during this period and asked you to come to me directly if you needed anything," Chloe said.

James watched her with a formal air that made him chuckle, "You're really something, you know that?"

James vividly remembered their first meeting. Chloe had an unshakable attitude, ready to confront anyone without a second thought, even while the other party might hold a gun.

Chloe, unable to meet his gaze, awkwardly changed the subject. "When are you flying to Mamaica?"

James checked the date on his phone. "Next Monday."

"Today is Wednesday," Chloe thought. She nodded, relieved that he didn't seem suspicious of her. "I'll go with you."

James was surprised. "You're coming to Mamaica with me?"

Before Chloe could respond, a firm grip pulled her arm.

"You're going to Mamaica?" Michael stood before her, disbelief written all over his face. The sight of her dancing with James had already been hard enough to bear, and now she was planning to leave the country with him?

Chloe was taken aback for a moment before pulling her arm free. "Is there a problem?" Where she went had nothing to do with him.

Michael opened his mouth but couldn't find the words. "You... can't go."

Chloe laughed at his words. "Why not?" They were no longer married. She didn't have to listen to him anymore. She could go wherever she wanted.

Her words made Michael at a loss for words. He had no right to stop her anymore. He stared at Chloe for a long moment before speaking in a low voice, "Are you really going with him?"

Chloe nodded as if it were the most natural thing in the world. "Of course." She had promised Smith she would stay with James until his surgery in Mamaica was done. She would see how he was doing before making any other plans.

"Will you come back?" Michael's voice held a hint of melancholy. He was afraid she would never return if she left this time.

"Not sure yet." Truthfully, Chloe had never considered settling abroad until Michael mentioned it. But now, it seemed like an option worth considering.

Chloe had stayed in this city for Wendy, but Wendy had passed away long ago. What else was there to keep her here? Perhaps moving abroad could be a fresh start.

Her work was flexible enough to be done anywhere. There was no reason to cling to this city.

Michael panicked at her uncertainty. "What about your mother? Are you going to leave her alone in the cemetery every year on her death anniversary?"
