After Divorcing my Captain Husband (Chloe and Michael) novel Chapter 532

After speaking, Chloe followed James into the house, not sparing Michael another glance.

Michael's steps wavered. He had never imagined Chloe would leave the country. "So, the baby she is carrying belongs to James, and her departure means she intends to be with him forever?"

When Asher found Michael again, Michael was already drunk. "Seriously? You're this wasted at the anniversary celebration of Bright Moon International? It's not even Paramount Airlines' anniversary. Dude, are you for real?"

Asher helped Michael off the couch and was exasperated.

In a drunken haze, Michael stared vacantly. His mind was filled with thoughts of Chloe, and he hadn't heard a single word Asher had said.

"The party's almost over, and I've never seen you stay this long at any event before." Asher followed his gaze and saw Chloe. "So, it's because of your ex-wife."

As Asher helped Michael up, he continued, "If you can't get over her, maybe you should treat her better. Who knows, you might even reconcile. But if you keep getting drunk like this, she'll only ever be your ex-wife."

Michael was prideful. Even though he deeply cared for Chloe, he maintained his accustomed dominance when dealing with her. No woman could put up with that.

Michael watched Chloe standing with Candy. James walked over to her, said something, and the group prepared to leave the ballroom.

Michael stood up without hesitation to follow them, but his drunken state caused him to stumble and nearly fall.

Asher was startled and used all his strength to catch him. "For heaven's sake, can you stop acting like a child?" He never knew Michael had such a childish side.

Michael, barely steady on his feet, shook off Asher's hand and hurried after Chloe.

At the entrance, Chloe was about to drive. She hadn't had a drop of alcohol tonight, so she naturally took on the responsibility of driving her friends home.

As Chloe opened the car door, a figure rushed towards her and slammed into her arms. Instinctively, she protected her belly and was relieved to be unharmed. Looking down, she realized it was Michael leaning against her.

Asher, who had followed Michael out, saw Michael clinging to Chloe. He smacked his forehead in exasperation, thinking, "This is utterly embarrassing!" But he pulled out his phone the next moment, ready to capture this rare scene.

Chloe glanced at her friends, none of whom seemed inclined to help her get Michael off. With a sigh, she decided to handle it herself. She grabbed his shoulders and lifted him out of her embrace. "Michael, how much did you drink? Can you stand up straight?"

At this moment, Michael was like a puddle of mud, refusing to move away from Chloe.

Chloe used all her strength to push him but to no avail. Frustrated, she finally tilted her head and said, "Hey, you reek of alcohol. It's making me sick. Can you please step back?"

The previously unresponsive Michael immediately wobbled and took a half-step back. "I'm... I'm sorry."

Everyone around them had the same stunned expression, unable to believe that Michael was apologizing to Chloe because he smelled bad from drinking.

Seeing Michael finally let go, Chloe sighed in relief and opened the car door to get in. But just as she was about to, he grabbed her wrist again. Not painfully, but enough to keep her from getting into the car.

Her patience finally snapped. "Michael, what exactly do you want?" It was late, and he was preventing her from leaving.
