After Divorcing my Captain Husband (Chloe and Michael) novel Chapter 581

When Wesley heard her words, he did not hesitate to take out his phone and transfer the money immediately.

Candy was shocked when she saw the amount. "Is it not supposed to be a hundred thousand dollars? Why did you transfer eight hundred thousand dollars?!"

"One hundred thousand maicons is eight hundred thousand dollars, isn't it?"

Candy felt speechless.

She thought, "Who asked him for maicons?

Forget it, nothing to lose."

She transferred a hundred thousand dollars to Lydia and kept the remaining seven hundred thousand dollars for herself.

Chloe took James all the way to the hospital, where Smith had already arranged everything, so James was admitted without any issues.

The surgery was scheduled for the next morning.

"Do we need to do any more tests or anything?" Chloe asked.

She thought, "For such major surgery, should they not check his other body functions?"

"They will do all those tests this afternoon," James replied, lying on the bed and holding a book in his hand.

To Chloe's surprise, he was reading "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn".

Chloe was impressed, feeling James' cultural knowledge had been elevated several notches in her mind.

"Do you understand it?"

Mark Twain's books were difficult for her to fully comprehend, let alone for James who had grown up abroad.

"Is it that my brain is bad or my eyes?" James asked.

Chloe was choked, feeling an urge to hit him on the head.

Considering he was a patient right now, she refrained from arguing with him.

After a while, James asked, "How would you feel if you escaped from your father's imprisonment?"

Chloe felt speechless.

She thought, "I was not Huckleberry Finn; so how would I know?"

"Chloe, have you ever met Mark Twain?"

For some reason, James seemed unusually chatty today, asking trivial questions, probably due to the surgery scheduled for the next day.

"Mark Twain died before I was even born. Where would I have met him?"

"Oh."

James simply said "oh" and resumed reading.

When the nurse came to take him for tests, Chloe went over to grab the book. "Focus on the tests. You can read when you come back."

James gave her a deep look but did not say anything.

The tests were actually quick but somewhat tedious, with frequent trips between the second and fourth floors. Chloe stayed by his side almost the entire time, only leaving when she could not enter certain areas.

"Chloe, why do you not read to me?" James requested again.

"It is fine if you do not read for a while."

By the time James' tests were finished, it was already past six in the evening.

He was returned to the ward. Since he needed to avoid heavy food before the surgery, Chloe decided to make some sandwiches in the hospital's kitchen.

She left the book in the ward.

The kitchen abroad was quite different from those in her country. After searching around and not finding anything to make the sandwiches, Chloe felt helpless as a woman walked in.

"You are Aikopnishian, right? You want to make something?"

The woman initiated a conversation, and Chloe nodded. "Yes, I want to make some sandwiches."

The woman handed her an induction cooker. "You can use this."

Chloe was surprised. She thought, "Did I really need to bring my own induction cooker to a hospital abroad?"
