After dinner, Chase stayed around to play chess with Mr. Lynch for a while. Only at about 8 p.m did he get ready to leave.
"Freya, hurry up and see Chase off." Mrs. Lynch nudged Freya. "Aren't you close to Chase?"
Freya was speechless. Her parents had made their intention way too obvious tonight.
Nevertheless, since her mom had said it, it was bad if she chose not to see him off.
Chase’s car was parked in the courtyard. When Freya saw him off, they passed by a garden, and Chase suddenly gave a deep laugh. "Oh? Say, could your parents be trying to set us up?"
Freya was embarrassed. "Ignore them. They just like to goof around. I'm a divorced woman. How can I possibly deserve to be with you, Young Master Harrison?"
"Don’t say that. Although you're divorced, you’re doing better in your career than I. Plus, you're the prime minister's goddaughter. If I get together with you, it shows that I'm trying to play up to them." Chase promptly said, "But I can see that you have no interest in me. I don’t like forcing people."
"Forget it." Freya rolled her eyes. "You make it sound so nice, but I’m actually not your type, right?”
"Don’t you have confidence in yourself?" A playful look washed over Chase's face.
"It's not that I have no confidence in myself. I just think that if we were to get together, we wouldn't have waited until today."
Chase said with a grin, "I like to be friends with beautiful women.”
“Get lost. Go back to where you came from," Freya said bluntly.
"Okay. I’m going to get lost. Do treat me to a meal next time."
Chase drove his car away.
