Monte’s expression shifted.
However, he soon concealed it. “I have no idea what you’re saying. My family has been doing proper business, unlike you.”
“The Jeffs family from Newcastle,” Chester casually said. “Also, the companies that you’ve set up in Canberra previously are all involved in gambling.”
Monte raised his brows and scoffed. “If you have the guts, go ahead and sue me. Beware, I’ll sue your family too.”
With that, Monte did not stay around any longer. He stepped on the accelerator and left.
As Chester watched the car drive away, he narrowed his eyes.
“Could your dad be involved in this matter too?” Charity was dumbfounded. Considering that Monte had the audacity to make such a remark, there must be a reason behind it.
“This matter… I’m really not sure.” Chester turned his eyes to Charity. “Are you, Catherine, and the rest unaware of it? Weren’t you the ones who hatched this plot by getting Monte and Hugo to work together?”
“How do you know?” Charity glanced at him. “Did Shaun tell you?”
“Mm.” Chester nodded. “Once I found out that you were Charity, I knew that you might want to take revenge on Eliza’s behalf.”
“I do want to take revenge on Eliza’s behalf, but earlier wasn’t the right timing yet. Once I catch the Patterson family in the act, I must drive them into a corner. My memory has worsened after I gave birth.” Charity said with agony, “Monte must’ve earned a lot over the past year. It won’t be surprising if he has managed to persuade some people to side with him.”
“Hunter has quite a good relationship with Monte’s father, so what Monte said is probably true.”
