Bride Behind the Mask novel Chapter 633

As Marguerite stepped into the office, she was immediately struck by the sight of Penelope and Frederick deep in conversation.

She raised an eyebrow, recalling Frederick's message about his morning meeting. "That was quick," she thought.

Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Miley, practically starry-eyed at the sight of her future mother-in-law, scurrying off to the break room to diligently prepare Penelope's favorite English Breakfast tea.

Penelope gestured for Marguerite to come over, her serene face radiating kindness. "Marguerite, dear, come here," she said with a warm smile.

Marguerite approached, trying not to focus on Frederick's mysterious yet handsome grin that seemed to play at the edges of her understanding.

She averted her gaze from his piercing eyes and turned to Penelope, saying softly, "You wanted to speak to me?"

Penelope lovingly took Marguerite's hands, a mix of adoration and regret in her voice: "Marguerite, I'm so sorry about yesterday at the hospital. I hope you weren’t too embarrassed. If I made you uncomfortable, I apologize. The thing is, for a moment, I thought you were my daughter. And I regret that you're not my own. But you should know, in my heart, I've come to see you as the daughter I never had. And I believe my Yuna feels the same."

Marguerite was touched—her emotions a whirlwind. She had long cut ties with the Lockwood family, yearning for a mother's love and protection, to not be alone.

In this moment, a bond of empathy formed between Marguerite and Penelope.

Fighting back emotion, Marguerite replied with feigned strength, "Penelope, everything happens for a reason. If I can't be your daughter, then I'm proud to be your goddaughter."
