Bride Behind the Mask novel Chapter 667

Frederick froze, his arm reaching out to embrace her, suddenly halting mid-air.

What in the world was she made of?

Just moments ago, she was tearfully muttering about Penelope, and now, in a blink, she had turned the conversation back onto herself.

Her thought process was truly something else.

Frederick, of course, knew exactly what she was hinting at, but he played dumb, asking her, “Like what?”

“Like...” Marguerite sniffled, her nose red from crying, and turned her head to gaze out at the ever-changing night view from the window, her mind drifting back to the answer she was waiting for from him.

He clearly knew what she meant, yet he chose not to respond, deliberately leaving her hanging. The mere thought of it made her feel even more frustrated.

She took a deep breath, pouting her lips slightly and muttered, “Like lots, lots of things.”

Like just now.

Like that day when Yuna asked him if he still loved her, and he still couldn’t give her an answer.

This man wouldn’t even bother to lie to placate her, Marguerite had no expectations for any response from him.

But then, in a low voice, he hummed, “Oh.”

Marguerite: “......”

Oh…?

What kind of response was that?

The more Marguerite thought about it, the more depressed she became, eventually turning her head away from him, refusing to speak.

But then, in the next second, she suddenly felt a tight grip enclosing her fingers.

Glancing down, she saw that his large hand had already intertwined with hers.

Marguerite felt a warmth from his palm, her body stiffening slightly.

Uh...

What did this mean?

Her bright eyes wanted to explore the expression on his face, but she found that he, too, had turned to look out the window.

Only their intertwined hands remained connected.

In that moment, Marguerite suddenly felt a sense of relief wash over her.
