On the phone, things were just too murky to explain, so Marguerite dropped Abbey a line, saying she was heading over to the police station to see her.

She arrived in no time, eager to spill everything about Yuna's recent odd behavior and her own suspicions.

Abbey lifted her eyelids, showing a face full of disbelief. Then, she rubbed her chin thoughtfully, her gaze sharpening as she pondered.

"Ms. Lockwood, you mean to tell me Penelope's death has something to do with Yuna?"

Marguerite's throat was dry as she nodded, but Abbey's expression was somewhat amused, as if she doubted Marguerite's story. She quickly had a colleague pour her a glass of water, but Marguerite didn't drink it.

"Ms. Abbey, if Yuna hasn't done anything wrong, why would she be so terrified of Penelope after having these hallucinations? Penelope was her mother, for heaven's sake!"

Abbey placed a hand on Marguerite's shoulder, explaining methodically:

"Strictly speaking, Yuna having hallucinations is likely a psychological issue and doesn't necessarily link her to Penelope's death."

Marguerite was beside herself with worry. She had thought the same before, but Yuna's behavior was growing increasingly bizarre. If she hadn't seen it with her own eyes, she would never have harbored such suspicions. But she couldn't just act out Yuna's behavior in front of Ms. Abbey. That would be crazy, right? Her frustration only grew.

After some contemplation, Abbey decided to share some details of the case with Marguerite, hoping to alleviate her concerns.

"On the day of the incident, we asked the Fitzgerald family why Penelope was out in the countryside. Hackett said she was dealing with the aftermath of a factory fire. Then we checked the surveillance footage and indeed saw her car near the factory. But at that time, Yuna wasn't at the factory."

A factory in the countryside? Marguerite's drinking paused, and she nearly choked in realization.

"The countryside hospital!" she blurted out, leaving Abbey puzzled. Marguerite quickly added, "Did you check the hospital's surveillance?"
