Bride Behind the Mask novel Chapter 719

Jake and Emma exchanged puzzled glances before Jake asked, “What are they doing at the cemetery?”

Emma fiddled with her fingers, deep in thought. “That place is where my great-grandma is buried. She’s been there since before I was born. Mom takes me to visit her grave every holiday.”

“So… they went to pay their respects at the grave?” Jake surmised.

Emma’s brow furrowed, her delicate eyebrows knitting into a “V”.

“It’s not even the time for that. Besides, if they were going to the cemetery, why wouldn’t they take me with them?”

Jake closed his laptop and hopped off the bench. “No matter the reason… let’s head out and see for ourselves.”

“Okay!”

Hand in hand, the duo headed towards the front door, only to be blocked by Brandon, who seemed to appear out of nowhere.

His chubby figure stood with hands on hips, looking menacing, though his eyes betrayed a hint of fear.

“Where are you two off to?”

Emma shot back, “You’re not even talking to us anymore, why do you care where we’re going!”

Ever since Brandon had a hallucination after seeing a bruise, he held a grudge against Margaret.

Every time he saw Emma, he’d accuse, “Your mom drugged me!”

But Dad had already proved Mom’s innocence, so Brandon’s accusation really irked Emma.

“I’m coming too!”

“You’re not invited!” Emma grabbed Jake’s hand, attempting to bypass Brandon, “Come on, Jake, let’s go!”

Brandon blocked them again, his gaze fixed on Jake:

“Jake! I want to come too!”

Jake immediately felt conflicted.

He was known for his gentle heart.

Having lived with Brandon for three years, Jake had come to understand him well.

Although Brandon appeared tough, his eyes were sensitive.
