Bride Behind the Mask novel Chapter 731

Margaret truly thought that Frederick coming to Veracoria to discuss a project with a hacker was as straightforward as meeting a client at the office.

Little did she expect Chuck to start the conversation by delving into the entrepreneur's family history.

Could it be that the hacker had been in cahoots with the entrepreneur all along?

The more she heard, the more convoluted everything seemed.

Margaret hesitated, then heard Chuck explain:

"You might not be aware, but this hacker used to be the head of the tech department in a local gang. He got involved in some shady businesses behind the scenes, which brought trouble to the gang, and eventually, he was kicked out."

Margaret caught on quickly, "So, the tech he developed, this 'wafer,' is part of those shady businesses?"

Chuck smiled knowingly, "Not entirely, but it's not exactly clean either."

"What do you mean? Stop beating around the bush!"

"The tech is solid. If Mr. Winston could monopolize it and integrate it into various sectors, our group could increase its profits by fifty percent of our current assets! That would make Mr. Winston untouchable on the international stage. The only catch is that this hacker wants Mr. Winston to use this project as a front for money laundering."

"Money laundering?" Margaret was shocked.

"Yeah. If we get caught laundering money across borders, Mr. Winston could become an international fugitive, and the whole corporation would suffer."

Margaret grew anxious, "What's Frederick's stance? Is he still going through with it?"

"Of course not!"

So, was this trip a complete waste?

Margaret felt a twinge of regret, but she knew better than to jeopardize the entire group and Frederick's future for what was essentially a tech venture.

"Good! We can't get involved in illegal activities!"
