Bride Behind the Mask novel Chapter 744

He strode toward Maurice and demanded, "Making up with Marguerite should be the last thing you'd want to see. So, what's your game here?"

Maurice downed his champagne in one gulp and casually placed the glass on the step behind him, his gaze drifting towards Marguerite, seemingly by chance.

"This is something I'd suggest keeping from Marguerite. After all, you know very well I'm capable of anything."

Indeed, Maurice's demeanor was starkly different when facing him compared to when he was with Marguerite.

Now, his facade was completely gone.

Malice and cunning were blatantly on display.

Ambition and a readiness for violence coexisted.

Frederick couldn't help but look towards Marguerite, seeing her still standing there, not having left.

The worry in her eyes broke his heart.

He knew that from this point forward, Marguerite would be both his vulnerability and his shield.

He turned away, his voice devoid of any emotion, "Let's go to the rooftop."

The rooftop was desolate and barren, with a dim light standing in a corner.

Underneath that light stood Frederick, while Maurice lurked in the shadows.

"What do you want?" Frederick lit a cigarette, the breeze messing his hair slightly.

Maurice got straight to the point, a knowing smile on his face.

"Let's make a deal."

"What deal?"

"I've secured the rights to use wafer technology, but I need it to be in your name to enter a partnership. The profits, we split fifty-fifty."

Frederick turned to face him directly, Maurice's sinister face making him laugh involuntarily.

"So, I take the risks, and you make the money? Is that it?"

"Don't make me sound like a swindler. If it weren't for the fact you're my brother, do you think I'd offer you half?"

Frederick took a drag from his cigarette and exhaled slowly, "Half, huh? That's an enticing offer. But what makes you think I'll agree?"
