Chapter 125
Almost immediately, Jasper noticed the figure lurching at him at an incredible speed.
Axel threw out solid and swift punches with the determination to cripple the latter. Jasper’s eyes deepened as he dodged two of Axel’s moves.
“Ho, you’re something,” Axel squinted his eyes and said mockingly. Eyes burning in anger, Jasper took a few breaths to compose himself.
It had been years since he retired from active military duty. Although he kept up with his boxing training and workout sessions, it had been a while since he fought someone. He had to rely on his solid foundation and muscle memory to fight off the attacker.
After a few rounds, Jasper picked up on the familiarity in the opponent’s moves. The moves reminded him of the close–quarters combat lessons from the military academy he had attended.
“Who’s this mysterious man?” wondered Jasper.
“Ouch-” Jasper was kicked hard in the abdomen and yelped in pain in that moment of distraction. Despite stumbling backward, he quickly steadied himself and stood tall.
What a tough nut!
“Mr. Jasper!” Xavier exclaimed and rushed up to hold Jasper while panting. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine.” Jasper endured the pain and coughed softly.
“You motherfucker! How dare you attack Mr. Jasper? I’ll kill you!” Xavier was blinded by rage. He barreled toward Axel without thinking.
“Xavier, come back!” It was too late for Jasper to stop his secretary. Xavier would be digging his own grave with his weak combat skills.
“You’ve overestimated yourself.” Axel scoffed.
Xavier had been punched to the ground. He blacked out before he could lay a finger on Axel. Shocked, Jasper glowered at the attacker. “I must have known you! Who exactly are you?”
Axel lifted a brow with a smirk. Of course they were familiar with each other. They attended the same military academy and were the top students of their time. However, they didn’t interact much outside the training.
“I thought you were curious about the important woman I mentioned. I don’t mind telling you.” Axel stepped over Xavier and inched closer to Jasper with a malignant and mysterious smile.” She’s your ex–wife.”
Jasper’s eyes wavered as he curled his trembling fists.
